For my last entry: Boston trades: PG Gary Payton (14.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 5.5 apg in 34.5 minutes) SF Rick Fox (4.8 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.6 apg in 22.3 minutes) C Michael Stewart (0.5 ppg, 1.2 rpg, 0.0 apg in 5.9 minutes) Portland trades: SG Derek Anderson (13.6 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.5 apg in 51 games) SG Ruben Patterson (7.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.9 apg in 73 games) SF Qyntel Woods (3.6 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 0.7 apg in 62 games) Why Portland does it: It seems like they're losing by quite a lot, at first. But if you consider that Derek Anderson and Ruben Patterson are both fairly large contracts that Portland already has about $50 mil coming off the cap after this year, and that this would stick it up to an approximate total of $67.5 mil coming off the cap, I'm sure they would jump at it. Why Boston does it: It puts Payton back on the West Coast, closer to where he wants to be. But Boston actually seems to be getting a bad deal here too. Anderson is an explosive scorer, but carries a large contract. And does Boston really need 3 more swingmen? But I think this trade does carry value for Boston, as they get back Qyntel, in the last year of his rookie deal, wanting to prove something, Ruben Patterson who is a fairly efficient player, and Derek Anderson, who does have the potential to do great things (just look at his 22-2-9 game against the defensive minded Rockets, or his 17-9-8 at LAL in April). They get back a fair amount of value, while giving up almost nothing that would contribute to their team. I think I got this in a half hour before the deadline (hopefully).

FFSBasketball's 11:38 AM post was the last official entry for this contest. Thanks to all who submitted an entry.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Wink23:</div><div class="quote_post">he was traded too</div> Ok. Cancel that trade and just take my other 2.
I'll go ahead and sound like a grade school gym teacher and say... "there are no losers, everyone here made a great effort and should be proud" no seriously, great job everyone, its gonna be real tough sorting these out

That will take a day or so and then by weeks end, there will be a voting poll up on the Celticsblog to vote on what readers think is the best option. It'll be linked as soon as it goes up, which will probably be in a few days, at the most. Hope that helps.

LOL. I've sent ranter my recommendations and he's shared some of his with me. I think once we consolidate the list, we'll have something to vote on in a day or so. Thanks for your patience.

Bah, only an honorable mention. I think you guys were a little too hopeful when narrowing it down - there's no way Brand or Terry will be traded, nor, in my mind would Seattle even trade Daniels for Payton straight up (I agree with Jeff that Daniels is now one of the most underrated PGs in the league - and the stats back it up). Does Seattle even want to see Gary back in a Sonics uniform? The other Seattle trade is only viable if Allen demands the max - in which case, is Boston willing to pay that to someone who will only be second fiddle to Pierce? Lastly, Hoops's trade is the most realistic, but I'm not sure Jaric is the PG Boston would be looking for. In my mind he's never really been a true PG - he doesn't really take great care of the ball, and wasn't that effective in his 30 mpg last year. But I have to go with this last one, because I don't believe any of the others have a chance of happening. Not faulting you guys, you did a good job narrowing it down. Here's to hoping GP stays.
