So far, Gasol is looking like the best player in the Olympics. His Spanish national team beat Argentina the other day by 11, beat Serbia-Montenegro today, has a perfect 4-0 record, and has clinched the top of their division all without Raul Lopez. Most of this is all attributed to Gasol. He's really getting a lot of good publicity through this, and it looks like his game is developing to the next level. Do you think this will help Gasol both develop the extra popularity and talent needed for an All-Star position next season? That's what I'm hoping for right now. He seems improved. I woke up this morning at 3 AM to catch his game against Serbia and he dominated for the most part of the game. I've begun to even root for Spain over the USA. Is anyone else doing the same?
It's tough to be an allstar F in the west. I don't think this will get him over Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett, or Tim Duncan. Not by a long shot. It'll be him fighting it out with Marion, Webber, and Kirilenko for the reserve spot, I think. Maybe even Carmella Anthony, depending. He's not getting voted in. Last year he was 8th for Western forwards. Kenyon Martin will probably get more votes than Pau, sadly.

If the Spanish fans were more involved with the voting process, then I feel that Pau Gasol would start. Like Ming, he has a huge overseas fan following. I'm just not sure how aware they are of the voting. I wonder how many people in Spain actually voted last season.

However, I don't think he'll get any better stats than he did last year now that he's in the West. It takes more talent to put up his kind of numbers in the West than in the East.

Hello everyone I am new on the scene. I am also a big Gasol fan. I think he will keep improving and will get on the allstar team if not this season then next season.
