    umm...more offence
Teams need to average like 100 points and dunks, 3 pointers here and there. I love Heat but sometimes they bore me too lol

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting GeeterMan:</div><div class="quote_post">Here is an idea that will really spice up the game. Do what they do in some other sports-The POWER PLAY. Imagine if a player has to spend one minute in the penalty box. The other team has a 5 on 4 advantage and has one minute to score as many points as they can. Don't expect the team with 5 players to run any half court sets and run the clock down. They will score as fast as they can because they want the ball as many times as they can while the penalty is on. This will really speed up the game !

Of course when the team with 4 players is on offense they will try to run as much of the penalty time off the clock. The defense with 5 players will double team and trap players with the ball forcing them to give up the ball in many cases throwing risky passes. This will lead to turnovers and more fast break power plays. The play will be frantic, jungle ball at its finest at times. No more boring intentional fouls at the end of the game to slow things down. Maybe something like 6 team fouls=POWER PLAY !!!. Of course this will probably never happen, but it creates some interesting possibilities ....Comments....</div>

Who decides which player sits down?

George Eddy made some great suggestions from his blog.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">After Team USA's bronze in Athens (which was still three places higher than in Indianapolis and exactly where I predicted them to finish in an earlier Blog), everyone from David Stern on down finally agrees we need to use the same rules everywhere!

I've been lobbying for this for 20 years!

So let me propose a mix which is simple, can increase scoring, spectacular plays and can be applied to young and old from Seattle to Dakar to Sydney.

From the NBA we need to keep the big court dimensions, 24-second clock, no charge semi-circle, ball at half-court after late timeouts (these last 2 have just been added by the Euroleague).

We need to eliminate the complicated defensive three-second rule and allow any defense anywhere in order to simplify things. This would reduce one-on-one play or the two-man game in the NBA and more zones would increase the importance of improving outside shooting -- a big need!

To keep court spread I would opt for the old Macdonald's tournament 3-point line at 6 meters 75 in a semi-circle. This distance is feasible even for young players around the world. Of course the NCAA would have to follow suit!

I like the FIBA tip-in rule. Once the ball hits the rim, go for it and that produces exciting dunks, etc. I also like the trapezoidal lane, the 10-minute quarters and coaches calling a lesser number of timeouts (which avoids drawn-out endings we see too often in the NBA) and the basic bonus on the fifth foul, period!

From the NCAA we need to copy the hands-off on defense and call charges when players bulldoze or jump in the air to initiate contact. The alternating possession on jump balls is fine too. All of this would help eliminate the culture shock future Team USAs would experience in international competitions!</div>

I think they need to lower some of the ticket prices. Since the Lakers and Clippers moved to Staples, I haven't been to a game. It's just too expensive. Instead, I go to a lot of Dodger games.

I understand the business aspect of it (supply and demand), but they need to at least find a way to include the fans that can't afford to attend the games.
