This is a two parter (so far, maybe more to come). Interesting stuff in here. Hopefully, Yao's strength and stamina will be much improved next year. If he doesn't pay careful attention to his body in the offseason, he's susceptible to chronic problems like Shaq or even something career-ending like Muresan. Falsone Part 1 Falsone Part 2 Here's a snippet: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">... If you?re impressed with what Yao Ming has done in the past few years, you haven?t seen anything yet. He has done all of this in what we consider to be a maintenance phase during the season. You can?t do any real strength work to gain the kind of muscle size and the kind of muscle strength during the season that you can during the offseason. You simply can?t do it. Yao plays year-round basketball, so we?ve always kind of had him on a maintenance program. When he gets a chance to back off and have an offseason where he can really work on his body, that?s when you?re going to see dramatic improvements in muscle size and strength, you?re going to see his cardiovascular stamina improve and you?re going to see his foot quickness improve. ...</div>
Yeah I've been following that issue. It seems like Yao's getting some good help. I also saw the game where China defeated Serbia... He definitely looked bulkier in the upper body and I'm talking about a good type of bulking up (i.e: upper body muscles ) which is good.
I thought his foot qucikness was pretty good already for a guy thats 7'5". Yeah I saw the game against Serbia too. I'm glad he's gaining more muscle and working on stuff like stamina. Very important right there.
Yao Yah I cant wait to see what he can do this year in the NBA its gunna be great im ready for the saeson to start.
This guy still gets tired with his huge frame and weight. Is getting a 7'6 and making him bigger a plus? I don't think the american way of thinking on getting bigger is better ALL the time. I think he should stop to get even bigger in muscles anymore. He has to CARRY his weight and if he keeps muscle training, he won't last any longer. Look at his face when he back tracks to defend or goes upcourt after a transition. He looks like a wimp in pain. I know it's tiring but ...It makes me sick! We can't depend on him as a leader that's for sure. I don't see shawn bradley with that face.

And Yao's stamina is noticeably better in the preseason even though he has more muscles. Yao is never going to be able to play 40+ minutes a game, or run up and down the court with ease, but I'm confident that he'll improve.
