hahahaha, so you're saying that shaq lost weight based on the picture above? might as well have used a picture of his big toe instead...

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Phreeze:</div><div class="quote_post">This honestly makes me real glad Shaq is gone to be honest. I've never been one to really support pushing Shaq out of L.A. after all he had done for us, but I really am glad. For years the Lakers have asked him to get into shape and has heard that he needed to for years here in L.A. but he had never done that. Now that he's in Miami and is trying to prove the Lakers wrong he's all of a suddenly motivated to lose weight... That just seems so selfish of him, and it's something I'm glad we won't be seeing anymore.

The "I've always been the type of player to do what I'm told to do'' is the biggest joke of all... He's just doing it to prove L.A. wrong. Remember last offseason he said he would be in real good shape (actually said under 300lbs but we all knew that wasn't possible)? He did come into camp in decent shape, but no where near where he said he would be...</div>

He actually said he would be under 300? I don't remember that and can't believe he actually said that. The man like I said countless amount of times has never been under 300 in his whole NBA career. His rookie weight was perfect and only weighed 301lbs because of those big ass feet. Seriously, those feet add 16 additional pounds.

I seen on ESPN this morning that Shaq has already lost 26 lbs. and wants to lose 6 more lbs. which will put him right at 325 for the start of the season.

haha, a professional athlete gets attention because he gets into shape.

    kinda sad, don't you think?

    If you think aobut it...yes

If you look at the Linemen or Defensive Linemen in the NFL, they aren't exactly in shape.

Now, given that it's their job to be big and strong and all that so that people can't get past them, and thats what their job description is and they are big only to do what they were drafted to do.

But really, isn't Shaq the same way? I thought he needed most of his body weight to be effective. I do like the idea of him slimming down though. Makes him more agile (even if his footwork isn't great), makes him able to last a bit longer in the NBA, and it probably makes it so that he doesn't get fouled so often and so hard.

Yes Shaquille is very much in shape. I read some where that he lost 25 pounds that is amazing. Although it is probably something he is doing do to the comments that Mr. Buss made when they traded Shaquille that one of the main reason was the fact that he had failed to get into shape and they questioned his work ethic. I guess Shaquille is sort of believing that he is humiliating Buss by proving his statement wrong, and losing weight as well as getting into good shape.

True, but he still great. The real problem with the weight was that he'd always get a big toe injury from all that weight. I mean he vowed to play an entire 82 games last season but that completely went down the drain. He did shed pounds, but not enough at his age. Will this be his first complete 82 game season. I doubt it. The closest he might come to that is 78, which is pretty good for him now in this stage of his career.

ESPN.com is calling him, "The Big Dieter''. LoL. Yes and it has been confirmed that he lost 24 pounds. He is going to release the demon on the NBA this year.

I loved Shaq when him and Kobe and the Lakers won the three in a row. Now my opinion of Shaq has changed a bit. I think he sorta like a big 330 lbs. baby that doen't know the meaning of talking to a man face to face rather he uses the media which causes more problems then it solves. AA13 how can you call Kobe a whiny baby. He is the hardest working player in the league and he was mad at Shaq for not being in shape. Shaq was mad at Kobe for being selfish but if Shaq's free throw percentage was above 30 % maybe he'd get the ball twice as much. Now hes in miami and hes losing weight to show Kobe and Buss that he is still a force to be reckoned with. Ya maybe if he got in shape 3 years ago with the Lakers maybe this could have all been avoided. Shaq thinks others are causing his problems, well i think hes causing his own with his lack of maturity and work ethic.

It's funny, but I can't recall a single poster who has slammed Shaq recently that doesn't have Kobe listed in as their favorite player. Isn't that strange?

I can call kobe a baby because he drove shaq and phil out of L.A. because he didn't like how Phil was coaching and he couldn't stand the fact that sahq is better than him.

I agree with AA13, Kobe is a really good reason of why HighSchool kids shouldnt be in the NBA. College teaches you that there is more to the world then just you.

Kobe thinks he will be the next MJ, and will prove all the doubters who said he was only good because of Shaq. Well with Shaq Pissed off, I think that one of the best competitions will be for the scoring crown. Since Kobe has free reign of a team, and Shaq is in shape they could both be scoring in the mid 30's....(with Kobe's FG% not a hell of a lot higher then that.)

Oh...well then what do you have to say about Tracy McGrady, Kevin Garnett, Jermaine O'Neal, and LeBron James coming straight out of high school? [IMG]

Yep, the same. James got a lot of points last year, but look at his shooting percentage. Terrible. And the Olympics demonstrated that he's still fairly lost in a half court set.

All of these players would have benefitted from a couple of years in college or in a development league. No question. Duncan may have been decent right out of highschool as well, but he stayed 4 years in college and he had the most impressive rookie season since David Robinson (another guy who took his time).

OMG man, come on...KG, Jermaine, Kobe, and McGrady are all able to pull off an MVP season (Garnett won it already, Kobe is definitely capable this year, and Jermaine has been runner up). LeBron is just beginning his second year...his shooting percentage isn't that spectacular, but he made up for it last year in his nice passes and team leadership...and for being younger than me, that's amazing in my opinion. His weakness that alot of coaches stressed was his shooting...and every player has a weakness...so his rookie season was not one to criticize. These guys deserved to come out of high school.
