...along with Fritz Pollard and Bennie Friedman. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/su...RM_Exclude=Juno Congrats!
Man, Dent did not get in again. It pisses me off that they put someone as unworthy as lynn swann in the HOF, but thye wont put worthy people like dent. Irvin also has a reason to be pissed since he had more than double the catches of swan, and played in 3 super bowls to his 4
This is the final chapter in a very important time in my life....I had the privilege to watch Dan Marino shred defenses for the 1st 15 years of my football life....He played in the 1st game I remember watching(Super Bowl XIX) and I saw him in person 7 times....the best memory I have of him in person came on a Sunday Night many years ago....the Dolphins were hosting the Eagles who were lead by Randall Cunningham....My seats were in the 1st row of the 2nd deck, by far the best place to sit in Joe Robbie Stadium because you get a great view of everything....the Eagles built a nice lead and threatened to blow the Dolphins out until late in the 4th quarter when Marino went to work....he lead the Dolphins to a couple of late TDs and a game tying FG with no time on the clock....then he won if for them in O.T....that was one of the greatest moments I have ever been apart of....he owns most NFL passing records and would own the record for 4th Quarter comebacks if he didnt have a tendancy to bring the team back too fast and give the defense time to blow it....hes the best I have ever seen....and Im sad its over....

For my money Steve Young is the most athletically gifted QB to ever play the game. He could run like the best, and had a great arm and accuracy.
Irvin will get in eventually, no doubt. Maybe he deserves it, too. I just think that Ellard and Monk were better receivers. Irvin was just on a better team.

Irvin was just on a better team.</div> This drives me nuts. Yes, Monk should be in the Hall. Can't say he was a better receiver than Irvin though. Irvin was just on a better team? One, that is a horrible way to rationalize this. Two, if anything, Monk played on a much better receiving core. Clark had 699 career receptions and Sanders had 481. Irvin's 750 was much more than any of the three. You could easily say that he got more balls because he was the only receiver, which is true. But the defense could surely cover him a lot easier too. Who else did they have to cover? Alexander Wright....Billy Davis....Ernie Mills....Kelvin Martin....Anthony Miller......Alvin Harper....Kevin Williams....? In all the years he played, the only receiver opposite him that made much of an impact day in and day out was the TE Jay Novacek.
Sorry I had to go off...at least I cut myself short. I had more. Actually, very few WRs make it first ballot for some reason. I just get upset with the anti-Cowboy HOF voting over the years. Tops in Superbowl wins and more SB appearances than any other...and very little in Canton to show for it. Actually, I have a gripe with Monk's snub too. For what the Redskins did in the 80s, they are getting little love too. Swann and Stallworth probably kill me more than anything. If Jackie Smith wouldn't have dropped that pass in the SB, and Dallas would have won (and become the team of the 70s instead) I wonder if the 70s Pittsburgh team would have had near the representation they do.
Ellards numbers are as follows: 814 Catches 13777 yards 16.9 per catch 65 TDS I would say that is Hall worthy.... He currently ranks 11th in catches and 5th in yards, his 16.9 yards per catch is amazing, thats a yard per catch better than Randy Moss....with Swann in, I cant believe Ellard is not....

Who gives a shit who the #2 receiver was?

Who gives a shit who the #2 receiver was?</div> Yeah, and i say keep farve out, he had great recievers and backs his entire career, his success is owed entirely to the O-line, WR, and RB on his team, and the accomplisments of his career(other than the sack he gave to strahan destroying the integrity of the league) are not his own.
Irving was a good WR but the fact that he was a big coke head will probably keep him out for a little while any way. he should be let in though, he was on a great team that did great things. i am sure he will be voted in with in a few years.
