Well I am looking at our roster right now and it seems we are pretty solid at all positions on the team. So my question is what position can we improve on to make us more legit contenders? We have probably one of the deepest back courts this season after having only Bogans and Tracy last season, we resigned Stevenson as well as a possibly healthy grat hill makes thta position deep. Also we have Augman a vetern leader who plays great defense.

At the power forward spot we have Garriety a great three point shooter as well as Battie who is just a great player who can defend and play both that spot and the five spot. He is a great locker room leader as well the main reason for O'brien's resigning from the Boston orginization being his trade.

At center we got Cato who is a hell of a defender can be our version of Charles Oakly as well as the fact he is probably one of the top shot blockers we have had since shaq left. As well as Declerq who although inconsisant can play more than a dcent bench role. As well as a player like Howard who may see some minutes at the five though he will spend more time at the power forward.

We also have some bodies on the team for when we face teams like Miami and other western conference apponents. So my question is what area do we need improvement? We are solid in every area yet what would make us a finals contender in everyones minds?

Center still remains the biggest hole on this team. Unfortunately, Cato is pretty one-dimensional and is nothing more than an above average defender and a below average offensive threat. Don't get me wrong, I think that he is a huge improvement over who we had last year at the position, but we still have a long way to go before we are really solid in that position.

That's what happens when the league is extremely barren of talented centers. Not really a number of talented big men that can legitimately play the 5 position in the league like there was around 10 years ago.

Other than that though, I think that time is the key factor. We need to develop some team chemistry and allow the younger players to develop, when that happens, we should be rather hard to stop.

Since Orlando is so good at every other position, the centers are probably the weakest link...

But then again, the team is most likely going to execute a run and run offence, for which centers are not too usefull(other than getting boards of missed shots).

Like someone said up top, it's just going to come down to chemistry and everyone fitting in. But then once again, if someone struggles and doesn't fit, Davis can just put in the next best man...

Once the season rolls out, I think that we'll get a pretty good idea of the Magic's upsides and downsides...

BTW, I just realized that we got good defencive players at almost every position other than power forward. I wouldn't trust a rookie to handle KGs and Tims just yet...

This is a very solid team, they have a better then average player at every postion accept center, after a couple of seasons playing together is when this team willl be its best though.

I also thionk this team needs a new coach,I bet Johhny Davis is one of the all time losing coaches,I could bet that half the teams he has coached were under 500%.

Well you are partially right. He's coached twice. His 1st time, I believe his record was 20-52, and last year was just as bad, so he could be one of the worst coaches of all time. The thing you are wrong about is you said you bet half of his seasons were under .500, when the fact is that all of them have been under .500.

    Lets see....

You have a pg who is really a sg, and is coming off his worst season.

A sg who doesn't learn from his mistakes.

    Juwan Howard (enough said).

No center in a conference that Shaq is now a part of.

I'd say what the Magic need is some dynamite and matches.

IMO Francis is a point guard, he is the new breed of NBA point guards. He needs to improve his ball handling skills, but he is a point guard. His worst season? Mabye in statistics, but he made the playoffs for the firs time and started his third straight All-Star game.

Doesn't learn from his mistakes? Yet is one of the best three point shooter on the team as well as a huge part of the rockets making the playoffs last season as well as a player that can score 20 points on any given night.

WTF we traded Howard ot the Rockets remember." Nuff said.

No center? We have Cato a great defender and shot blocker as well as rebounder who can be our version of Charles Oakly, Battie the guy with one of the best bball minds in the game, and Declerq a big body who we can toss at shaq. Then when you look at it what team ahs a center that can match up with Shaq no one it is a by commity type of thing.

That is probably what we will need too celebrate after we pass the first round of the playoffs this year.

This team has a huge amount of potential. I think we're going to see problems with scoring though, or at least at the first part of the year. We'll likely even be turnover prone for awhile until someone breaks out and becomes a true scoring threat. Then I believe we'll see the teammates better feeding off of each other, and we'll see some great bball from a few of the 'unprovens': Hill (sources say he's doing great, and I'm an optimist), Turk (he's a more serious offensive threat than most people think), Deshawn (he's just coming alive folks).

Areas of improvement? Of course in the bigs. That's pretty much a given in this league. That's why we are so stacked at every other position, and have no-nonsene blue collar help around the bucket. If we had more high profile trees, we wouldn't have such depth. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. This year's going to be fun.
