<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">E A G L E, Colo., Sept. 1, 2004 ? Prosecutors will file a motion this afternoon to dismiss the sexual assault charge against Kobe Bryant, according to sources familiar with the case. The motion will say that both the alleged victim and Bryant agree to the request. Prosecutors will ask that it be dismissed with prejudice, meaning that the charge can never be brought again. The judge must approve the request in order for the case to be dropped.</div>Full Article: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/GMA/US/kobe...s_040901-1.html
I think this report might be a mistake. On ESPN.com, it says that Kobe's lawyers are the ones filing the motion. That would make more sense.
This is the story on ESPN.com. I'm surprised they aren't reporting what's being said here. It looks to me like there might be some confusion. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1872581 edit: Ok, it looks like you guys are right. But there's a "catch." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5861379/

Even if they could, that would just make him look guilty.
Yes! That's I'm talking about...finally this one year drama ends. Hopefully Kobe has a new vision on life....
Hmmn...Everybody's got conflicting results on if Kobe's cleared or not?? I'd like to know which story is true??
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jurassic:</div><div class="quote_post"> That would make less sense actually. Kobe's lawyers cannot automatically drop the charges against their own client. But it looks like the prosecutors are dropping it on their own.
I wonder if the Maloof Brothers will still give the accuser the cash they promised her for starting this lie. Looks like their little plan didn't work out.
The defense earlier asked for a dismissal because the prosecution didn't turn over evidence that would help KB. The charges against KB maybe drop because the prosecution says that the jury pool is tainted. The prosecution is asking for a dismissal without "prejudice" meanign that they could bring up the charges later. I don't think the judge will agree to this. Either the prosecuition drops all or nothing. The rumors are not confirmed but it is very possible. I can't believe the prosecution they've wasted taxpayers money, KB's endorsements, humiliation.

The Prosecution doesn't care about all that.they wanted a big case, and got one, than couldn't do anything about it,so i guess they are the ones who look like the fools here. Also I Think once all of this blow's over,Kobe can probably go on to a more normal life with his Wife Vanessa, and child.and maybe no longer go around with the image that he had for a long time with all of this. Good luck to Kobe and his Family.
Looks like Kobe is going to be free on all criminal charges however he still has to deal with a civil suit. Personally I don't think she will get anything in civil court because the case was dismissed(will be) in criminal court. I said it from Day 1 that the only way IMO that she gets any monetary damages is if Kobe is convicted in criminal court then she goes to civil court to sue him. However, this case could possibly end up like OJ's did and that would be bad news for Kobe.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Hunter:</div><div class="quote_post"> However, this case could possibly end up like OJ's did and that would be bad news for Kobe.</div> That's the Last thing we need is another OJ type of case. .Hopefully it won't go down like OJ's did.
Well I am glad for Kobe,if he is truely innocent..congratulations Kobe and I hope you learned your lesson from this whole expierence.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting los:</div><div class="quote_post">Man. So what is it, Dismisal with prejudice, or without?</div> We don't know yet. There in court right now trying to settle this.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Hunter:</div><div class="quote_post">However, this case could possibly end up like OJ's did and that would be bad news for Kobe.</div> Not likely because a lot of the people that were interviewed for to be jurors said that they believed KB and that alot of the info that they got was from the media and from people around town.
