<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Scott Williams, the center who was popular with teammates, coaches and the front office in his season-and-a-half stint with the Suns, appears to be the final player on the team's radar screen before the season starts. Williams, who was released in January so he could join the Dallas Mavericks, is a free agent who might sign soon with the Suns, club president Bryan Colangelo indicated. "We have expressed an interest in doing something with Scott Williams," and the Suns hope to "finalize discussions with him shortly," Colangelo said. In his previous Suns stint, "I think he was a good influence on the team," Colangelo said. So good that the Suns talked about making him an assistant coach someday.</div> <div align="center">Link</div>
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Avery:</div><div class="quote_post"><div align="center">Link</div></div> He is a nice veteran who will give leadership and 10-20 quality minutes each game.
Yeah he did a very good job last year filling in at center for the Mavs. I'm sure he will help the Suns out the same way he did with the Mavs.
Williams is a good banger down low, but he is too injury-prone now to contribute on a nightly basis. His body will no longer hold up for a full 82 games, and I expect him to be more of a mentor to the Suns' young players, rather than be a main player in the rotation.

He did a very nice job last season for the Suns before the Mavs picked him up on waivers. He has a consistent 15 footer, knowledge of the Game (won all those rings with MJ), and is great with the young players like Amare. I would not call him a banger but he will find consistent minutes this year. The Suns are so weak at the Center position he will find minutes. Also last year the Suns liked him so much as a mentor that before he was released the Suns asked him to become an assistant coach. This says something about the respect this team has for him. Hw will again be a nice addition for Phoenix.

He's a great leadership figure, and can shoot the jumper that will open up the middle when bigs come out to guard him.
