Hmm, this doesn't sound surprising. The Hornets' administration has been doing a really bad job the past few years, and with Mashburn possibly retiring, Davis will likely miss the playoffs for the first time in his career. Davis is doing the right thing. He has proved that he is better served with a scoring threat playing alongside him, and if Mashburn retires, Baron might not be able to carry the team on his back.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"We've got to straighten out some things," Hornets general manager Allan Bristow said but would not go into any details. "He's our franchise player. There's no possibility we'll trade him. We have no intention of even inquiring about trading Baron." Davis didn't name a specific team he would like to play for but Ramasar said that his client would be a good fit with teams such as New York, Phoenix, the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami.</div>If a trade is possible, which the GM says 'hell naw', the Lakers can sure use him.
I say the Lakers have to jump on this, Kidd will be out til Christmas and Chucky Atkins is not a Laker type starting point. Baron and Kobe would be a killer backcourt. But the only thing is their gonna have to clear out their bench.
I'll say this only because TO fans have gone through this with Vince. If Baron does not come out and say he wants to be traded, then it's just an agent trying to get his man to a better market. Only reason for that is to add more money to the agent's pocket.
I also think he will get traded if he comes out and says it fro himself, Just take Eli manning for example, he whined and cried and got his way. Only diff is I hate Eli Mannign and if B.Diddy goes to LA ill love him. lol.
Heh, I don't see Baron getting traded. He's 25 and the team's franchise player. To trade him, they would need to get a young franchise quality type player back in return. Not many teams are ready to make that kind of decision, especially New Orleans. Baron hasn't demanded a trade and probably won't. Seems out of character for him... His agent only inquired about exploring his options. Baron will soon talk to Hornets' management and Coach Scott (whom he was excited about being named the new head coach) about this and then all this trade hype will die down next week. I don't blame Baron for getting thoughts of leaving the team. This is an organization that has made pretty bad decisions in the past regarding personnel and many other things (like relocating to New Orleans). Recent bad decisions include, firing Paul Silas (whom Baron was close with) and hiring Tim Floyd. They're in a huge bind with the Jamal Mashburn situation. So yeah, I can't blame Baron. Though, he shouldn't have signed that contract extension two years ago... If he is traded, I'll probably lose all interest in the Hornets even though I've been a fan since I was 4 years old. But, I don't see him being traded. At least not this season. Who knows what will happen next offseason...
This franchises days are really numbered the players don't even want to be here now let alone the fans. Pretty much sucks for these fans.
