<div class="quote_poster">Quoting SunshineRain:</div><div class="quote_post">but on the other hand GS lost their best player in Dampier. </div> wow, i hope the rest of the league feels that way too, because then we are last years jazz..... anyways, i know the trade was a stretch, but only half of our roster can be traded currently and of them this seemed like the package mully would give up...even though it is a stretch....I doubt davis will end up in GS but i was just wishful thinking.
How about JRich, Speedy, Dunleavy, and Dale Davis for Baron Davis and Mashburn? I don't know...Maybe the Warriors add a couple of picks. But the Warriors would look pretty good with... Baron Davis/Fisher Pietrus/Cheaney Mashburn/Najera Murphy/Cliff Foyle/Biedrins But then again it would depend on the health of those two players in Baron Davis and Mashburn. I really like the deal if Musselman were still here. I think Musselman and Baron Davis would had gotten along very well. Also there's the question if the Hornets would even consider it. I don't know how much they value those players or even picks. I do know it works cap wise though according to realgm.com. However I think it couldn't happen until like September 22 because of Dale Davis. Golden State trades: C Dale Davis (4.4 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.0 apg in 22.1 minutes) SF Mike Dunleavy (11.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.9 apg in 31.2 minutes) SG Jason Richardson (18.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 2.9 apg in 37.6 minutes) PG Speedy Claxton (10.6 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 4.5 apg in 26.6 minutes) Golden State receives: PG Baron Davis (22.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 7.5 apg in 40.1 minutes) SF Jamal Mashburn (20.8 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 2.5 apg in 38.4 minutes) Change in team outlook: -1.7 ppg, -9.9 rpg, and -1.3 apg. New Orleans trades: PG Baron Davis (22.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 7.5 apg in 40.1 minutes) SF Jamal Mashburn (20.8 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 2.5 apg in 38.4 minutes) New Orleans receives: C Dale Davis (4.4 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.0 apg in 76 games) SF Mike Dunleavy (11.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.9 apg in 75 games) SG Jason Richardson (18.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 2.9 apg in 78 games) PG Speedy Claxton (10.6 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 4.5 apg in 60 games) Change in team outlook: +1.7 ppg, +9.9 rpg, and +1.3 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED
Scoring point guard = Chauncey Billups. The Pistons have won plenty but only because they have a great coach and a great team defense. I think under Montgomery the Pistons style of play could be possible to replicate with Baron Davis leading the charge. If they can play a good zone and your team doesn't slack off, the W's could be a great team especially on preventing isolations and contesting those perimeter shots by communicating and rotating the defense to the appropriate matchups.
I love reading the banter back n forth over various topics...but i thought i would chime in.... Davis is a big volume shooter..... a lot of his stats are inflated because of that.... 32% career from 3 point range and amaingly less than 65% free throw shooter... only once in his career has even averaged above 20 points a game.... and .... and just over 6 1/2 career assists per game.... i just don't see that much improvement breaking up our core and this stage to acquire him.... he is certainly injury prone.... blowing his knee out at ucla and has had chronic back problems.... i just don't see blowing the team up to get him..... not worth it.... and mashburn..... is even a bigger injury risk..... i am excited to see the developement of our core..... and expect big things from them.... and i can't see Mullin making any move that would disrupt that chemistry he is building..... a little more tweeking perhaps..... but not a blockbuster of this magnitude..... i would rather throw that talent at the kings and go for Peja if we were to do that.....
He said he want's to be on a contender? How is GS a contender, or Toronto [we had this topic too], or Boston? Baron isn't going anywhere, as NOH, I'd want some deal that included Pietrus if it ever happened, and no Claxton [like him but injuries are a big problem for him], or Cliff especially [common]. J-Rich, Cliff and Claxton would never get Baron for a team, it's just not good enough IMO, I mean seriously, SG's are the easiest position to get, Baron is arguably the league's best PG because of all he can do + his defense, and that Kidd is aging, Claxton isn't durable himself, and Cliff is nothing big in a trade, what did Detroit trade him for, Sura and cap space? Baron Davis is not really a scoring PG, their's a reason he had to score so much in NOH, anyways, his FG% was bad, but his FG shooting efficiency was the same as Joe Johnson, Rip Hamilton, and Stephon Marbury, so if Baron and Rip both took 15 shots [not counting getting to the line of course], they'd both score 13.9 points, hi FG% doesn't look too bad now does it. Taking more three's will bring your FG% down, look at someone like Hinrich who shot 38% from the field, but was a more effiecient FG shooter than Arroyo who shot 44.1% and than many other players in fact. Baron's only problem is FT shooting, because he's an amazing ball handler, better passer than this years numbers show, great defender [top in the league with Andre Miller, Kidd and Eric Snow], very capable scorer, and also a good rebounder. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I love reading the banter back n forth over various topics...but i thought i would chime in.... Apart from 2 seasons ago when he was injured, since he's been a starter, he's averaged over 7.3 assists a game, his rookie year 3.8 assists a game obviously affects his career numbers. He does have injury problems, but it's not really the knee that bother's him right now, more the back, and jsut getting beat up.
I probably miffed up my argument with the entire scoring PG discussion. Pretty much though, if Baron Davis was traded to GS (and og15 echoed my exact thoughts that I posted on the first page about it being an unlikely trade, adding a few more reasons) he would become the primary scoring option. We'd end up losing a lot of little bits too, and at this point, there are enough pieces to step in to surround him with a good team. It was that way for New Orleans last year when Mash was hurt and Davis was the top scorer. It wouldn't improve our team in the short term significantly (losing the guys we'd have to trade to pry him loose), and not in the long term (losing the cap space and the ability to resign the guys we lose). Hope that clears things up.
I would agree that these proposed trades won't happen, but no player is untouchable. Talking about trades also helps gauge theoretical values and makes you think how much a player is worth to your team. Really, being untouchable just means that they would have to get blown away by the trade.
