I still think if the Lakers were truly after a starting PG, they had to look no further than to Gary Payton, but they traded him for Chris Mihm and Marcus Banks-and-then-returned-for-Jurmain Jones so I'm not sure if they are interested in a PG. Who knows what is running through the krazy minds of Jerry Buss and Mitch Kupchak.
Phoenix??? New York??? they already have A-list Point gaurds, how is he a good fit. Miami besides Wade and Shaq have no kind of value in their team, neither do the Lakers. Baron is a SUPERSTAR. Shaq is the only exception, in teams being ripped off. The only other value that is out their is Peja but Kings already got their PG's.
Aint gonna happen but that'd be so tight if he did...if Kobe, Odom, and Davis were on the same team...wow. BTW, Davis didn't officially say that he wanted to play for LA (his agent did), but I'm sure if he had a choice, that's where he'd go. He IS from Los Angeles and he even played for UCLA. Too bad the Lakers don't have enough to give up.
Its wickit if the Lakers can trade some of their SFs and throw-ins for Baron Davis... we could send Devean, Jumaine Jones, Chucky Atkins for him... would the contract match though? PS. Off-topic, regarding Kobe's case, the charge's been dropped but I wonder what is civil suit? What is the worst scenario of this suit? Thanks
It wont happen. The Kidd trade is more likely than a Davis trade. As for the off-topic, the civil suit is still ongoing. I think a fine would be the worst case scenario.
I'm drooling right now...I'd be the happiest guy on JBB if this were to happen. However, i think they'd have to trade Odom to get Davis, and unfortunately I really doubt that wil happen...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting PupMelo:</div><div class="quote_post">PS. Off-topic, regarding Kobe's case, the charge's been dropped but I wonder what is civil suit? Thanks</div> KB's civil suit is that Kate is asking for money. She filled the suit like 2weeks before trial was supposed to start. She is seeking unspecified damages for 'public scorn, hatred and ridicule. She has asked for jury trial and compensatory damages of at least $75,000, with punitive damages to be determined. For the allegations of pain and suffering and other non-economic losses she could get any amount but they cannot exceed $733,000. Punitive damages cannot exceed the compensatory award and can be given only if the allegations are proven beyond a reasonable doubt. The most that she can get is between 1 to less then 3mill. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">What is the worst scenario of this suit? </div> The worst scenario about this suit is that everything is almost fair for both sides. Everything about her sex life could come in the same goes for KB. Her suicide attempts, drug overdoes, her mental stability, and much more. Is bad for KB because his image could be tarnish more then it already is. I hope this was helpful. Don?t know much about law, I?m in high school, but I have learned much from this case.
^ so the max dollar she could get from kobe is compensatory (733,000) + punitive (733,000) = $1,466,000 ... it's cool money, and Kobe might add some extra money behind the scene out of pity and well genuine care about what happened... thx jesseca it really helped... <div class="quote_poster">Quoting notMuchgame:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm drooling right now...I'd be the happiest guy on JBB if this were to happen. Odom is one of few versatile big men out there... his body is 6-11 and can play pf and run like a swingman... he's more versatile than Duncan and we gotta give him up for a star point guard? I'd say it's easier to find stud PGs in the draft's SECOND round than stud versatile PFs in the FIRST round. So keep Odom, screw Baron.

I want Odom in a laker jersey.
In a rational sense, I agree having Odom is probably more beneficial for the Lakers. However, as a fan who lives in the Los Angeles area, I have more of an attachment to Davis than Odom (Odom's first stint in L.A. was horrible, while Davis was a standout L.A. product). So that's y I wouldn't mind that trade (yes I know this sounds irrational). Think about it though. The Lakers will be stronger defensively with Davis-Kobe-Butler as the 1-2-3's (not to mention offensively). Obviously, the hole the lakers currently have at the 1 will be shifted to the 4, but what if Karl Malone comes back? Add Brian Grant, Vlade, and Mihm to the mix and the front line isn't that bad .... okay okay, that was a weak argument, but I tried, lol ... I'm just a fan of davis
This one is not going to happen. Remember NO is now in the western conference and unfortunately they are not the Nets, cleaning house. If they traded BD it would be to the east because they do not want to see him four times a year and in the playoffs, the same reason Shaq was sent to the east, if it turns out to be a mistake, you want to see as little of it as possible.
If we were to trade off Odom for Davis, I would throw my computer out the window and never watch basketball again. First off, it's obvious that we need big men. Baron isn't big. Odom can grab boards (about 10 a game, I believe) AND has the passing ability of Baron, maybe even better. Odom is like an antelope running down the court...he's got excellent court vision (like Baron) and he can play any position except the paint. Here's where I fail to see why the Lakers would do this: Baron shoots at under 39% from the field, with poor shot selection. Also, he's a 69% free throw shooter (I believe). Odom shoots well at 43% and with 74% free throw shooting. Also, Davis jacks up 300 more shot attempts than Odom, but played about 10 or 11 games less...which brings me to my next point: injury. I say keep Odom.
Lakers aren't gonna trade Odom so don't worry. For anyone else, though, hell yeah I'd take that trade.
well, if there is any trade for davis, then laker will most likely be forced to put up odom in a trade, unless the lakers offer like, marcus butler and probably like deven george and maybe another player for davis, it wont happen i wud love to see bryant, odom, and davis at the 1 2 3 spot, it wud be awesome
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> unless the lakers offer like, marcus butler and probably like deven george and maybe another player for davis, it wont happen</div>Marcus Butler? You mean Caron Butler right? I don't see the Hornets trading Baron Davis for Caron Butler. Although he has loads of potential, Butler has only been in the league 2 years and has not proven himself yet. Odom for Davis would be more likely because they were both in the same draft class, and Odom really elevated his trade value after his season with Miami.
I think Baron would want to play for the Lakers, but thats only because he is a Cali native. I dont think a trade to the Lakers would happen, one tought that automatically comes to my mind is a Baron and Kobe backcourt wouldnt work, having a shoot first PG isnt the type of pg the Lakers need, meaning a trade for J Kidd would benefit them more in my opinion. Plus the only way the Hornets could trade Baron to the Lakers is if they get lesser value, and thats not what they want, maybe if they would have kept GP they could have packaged some players up with him to get Baron.
I think he jsut mentioned the Lakers because he is from Inglewood california and would probably like to return home it wont happen considering he has a nice little contract and how much cap room do the Lakers got? Plus who would they trade for him? Probably take a lot of talent and I dont think him and Kobe would fit well together as Kobe wants it to be "his team".
