Just a note to say hello. My name is Cory, and I have been a huge fan of Stacey Augmon since his days at UNLV-which was 14 years ago, and I'm very happy that hes now a part of the Orlando Magic. It was his destiny-his middle name is Orlando. And if these are the last years of his playing career, then I'm glad its with the Magic. I have followed him every year whilst playing in the NBA, from his 5 years in Atlanta, his 20 games with Detroit, his 5 years in Portland and his 3 years in New Orleans. He may not put up All-Star numbers, or be relied upon to score 30 points every nite, but he brings to the game what not many players do these days-a winning and TEAM attitude. And that is what has helped him play for so long. He is the consumate pro, doesn't complain about minutes, and gets the job done night in and night out. Heck, the guy won't even do interviews. I don't expect Augmon to play alot of minutes with Orlando, especially with Grant Hill back healthy, Turkoglu, Stevenson, Mobley and Bogans playing the 2 and 3 spots. I guess what Augmon will bring to the Orlando Magic is key veteran leadership qualities and the Defense that he has always bought to the game of basketball since his days at Pasadena Highschool that made him a Defensive standout in UNLV. I also like the fact that he has rejoined with Grant Hill, those two go back to college. They will lead the team by example on and off the court. As I said, Im a huge fan of Augmon, and will support the Orlando Magic this year and next as passionatley as I possibly can. Although I'm from Australia, I will be here in this forum on most nights and enjoy a good forum topic and some good, quality basketball discussions. Best of Luck to the Magic, Stacey Augmon and the fans of Orlando.
I think the Magic had intentions of signing Augmon as an assistant coach or a member of the staff once he retires. But for the time given, he is very valubale to the team in the bringing up of the yougsters like Bogans and like you said bringing the attitude... Good stuff...
First of all welcome to JBB and the Magic forum. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. As for Augmon, I don't project him to play a heavy role minute wise, but look for him to provide veteren leadership on and off the court. However, when he is on the court he's always willing to play solid defense and consistantly knock down an open shot.
