I hope the Hornets take a tough stance on this, and show that they won't be dictated by a player under contract. If Davis is mature enough, he'll take it on the chin.
Davis is a very good player, and they should keep him. He's probably one of the top 3 point guards in the league. Players under contract should never be in a position to demand a trade, I don't care how good they are. If a player refuses to play, then his contract should be voided and the NBA should ban him from signing with another team. If a player wants to be in a position to be able to choose to switch teams, then he shouldn't sign multi-year contracts. He should express his frustrations with team management, and let them know what kind of changes he'd like to see. The team will trade him on their own (eventually) if they realize he is unsatisfied and won't sign a contract extension.
Exactly. In Portland in the 70's, Maurice Lucas was discussing being traded with some journalists. Jack Ramsay told him "You play for the Portland Trail Blazers. You are under contract. It's not part of your job, nor your contract, to discuss being traded in midseason."
The un-funny part of all this is that Davis has a new Coach and a new conference and no one to play around him. He needs some help in a big way and NO has pretty much done nil in the off-season. I think one decent trade by them (and no, I don't mean trading Baron) and this whole issue goes away between them and B-Diddy. To me, none of this would have come up if the Hornets management wasn't so tight in the wallet.

You need a big man to survive in the West, which would render Magloire untouchable unless they are getting an equally effective big man back. Mashburn's contract and injury troubles make him hard to deal, which is not NO's fault considering the player he was when he signed the big deal. Andersen is a solid pick-up, and they were unlucky to see Toronto match Peterson after they didn't show any real interest in doing so. Considering the way free agents were overpaid this offseason, he shouldn't take too much against the fact that they didn't make many waves in the market. If you ask me, Diddy needs to show his maturity in his position as a team leader and try and deliver the Hornets to a playoff spot in the West through his play on the court, not decide he wants to leave if everything doesn't suit him. What do other people think about this?
With Jamal Magloire and Mashburn, I dont think the Hornets are bad team at all. Well J Mashburn needs to stay away from injury. If he can give the Hornets 100%, I think the Hornets will be a good team.

Pete Maravich with the New Orleans Jazz. He didn't have anybody around him, but did he demand to be traded? Baron has all the money he'll ever need, and he and his agent should just shut up with all this trade talk.

I was to when the rumors were going around that he wanted a trade I knes the hornets would'nt let him go. He is to valuable to them.
He's only 25. I don't understand why everyone feels like they have to trade their way to a championship. New Orleans will be there in a few years. It's not like he's 40 on his last leg. I would like to see Jason Kidd get traded though.
