<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Portland Trail Blazers signed 22-year-old small forward Darius Miles to a six-year, $48 million contract after low-balling him throughout the summer to the point that he was shocked by the offer and signed it quickly and happily. This was a complete turnabout after Miles was furious, wanted out and was frustrated by no other legitimate offers out there despite his restricted free-agency.

What it really means: Nobody else is quite sure what to make of Miles, either. He's a streaky player and has yet to show discipline on either end of the floor or a consistent jump shot. More important, it opens the door for them to move Shareef Abdur-Rahim. The Blazers have said they wanted Abdur-Rahim to start at small forward, but Abdur-Rahim says he won't play there. And the Blazers are building around young Zach Randolph at power forward while also trying to get an extension done for him. In any event, there is plenty of confusion over their plan for the future and who they want to build around. But sources say Abdur-Rahim has no intention of coming to Portland in a month when the Blazers begin training camp. Anyone interested in an unhappy power forward with a one-year, $14.6 million contract?</div>

    <div align="center">Link</div>

Should Billy King make a pitch at him? I have a good feeling about this year, and to up the ante a player like Abdur-Rahim would just make us a definite threat in the East. Also, he has just one-year remaining on his contract, so how bad would it really hurt us?

However, if we're to trade for him, that means someone like Kenny Thomas as well as another key player on our team would be on their way out. Now that may be a good thing, seeing as that we have tons of talent on this team and most of us are just baffled on how everyone will get their decent share amount of minutes. So if some kind of trade were to go down, that would open up the door for players that weren?t expect to get a lot of playing time. It?s most likely that if we trade for Rahim we would end up getting Rahim alone and give up two players in the process. So this would definitely open some playing time for some of our young players.

But the yet another drawback is that if we wouldn?t happen to do well with Rahim I doubt King would look to re-sign him. Plus, we would have already loss a player like Kenny Thomas and we would be in big hole, which would be very difficult to climb out of.

I think that there are reamerging rumors about Reef now that the whole Randolph thing has been cleared up and I definitly feel that we can offer them the most for him. We can trade them a player who is in the final year of his deal and would provide socring to there already talented team in Glenn Robinson after giving Miles that big deal they will be looking for as much cap room as they can get and that would definitly help them out.

Not to mention we could possibly add a player like Marc Jackson considering they will be looking for someone to back up Randolph and he will give them a body that if healthy will be able to score a little and body up guys. I am not gona think much of this rumor for now considering all the rumors that are out there with players like Davis,Peja, and other super stars when I see or here a trade propsition from either team if it happens I will be happy though because I am sure he could provide us with a second option that would fit well with AI's game.

Kenny Thomas and another key player being traded for Shareef might not be the best idea because Kenny Thomas is a very good rebounder and could be a very good factor on the Sixers later in the season. If all of u noticed...when Iverson was hurt...he had games where he scored 20+ points and 13+ rebounds....This is a PF i would want to keep if i was the Sixers. Shareef without a doubt would be a very good addition to this team though so i dont know. It just depends on how good of a player we have to give up with Kenny Thomas....that would be the main thing to think about. We definately cant give up a starter for him. Maybe if it was somethin like Corliss Williamson and Kenny Thomas...that would always be a possibility but man i just think Kenny Thomas could be a better player and bigger factor for the Sixers. What do u guys think?

EDIT: Glenn Robinson and a filler might be the best thing to do if we want Shareef...that would be great to see that go down....Im all for that. [IMG]

I actually think that we should stay away from him. My reason is because that if given the right coaching and minutes, Kenny Thomas can produce as much as Shareef. Plus put there contracts side by side and let me know who you'd take. I really think that Shareef is passed his prime and that everyone thinks to highly of him.

Is right, Shareef actually never had a prime, He really cant guard the good pfs in the league and cant guard any of the SFs so he creates a problem on defense and all he will do is around 17 a night and he would give up the same amount on defense so he really wouldnt help the team much, not worth the trade I think we should keep this team as it is right now we could use the 14 mil in cap relief next year that will come from Grob, To help resigning Dalembert and another good player next off-season.

Kenny Thomas and Shareef are similar players but I bealive that KT would fit better here in Philly, but I want to compare so I did a head to head.

    <u>Kenny Thomas</u>
    PPG:13.6
    APG:1.5
    SPG: 1.11
    BPG:.45
    FG%:.469
    FT%: .752
    3P%: .200
    MPG: 36.5

    <u>Shareef Abdur-Rahim</u>
    PPG:16.3
    RPG:7.5
    APG:2.0
    SPG:.80
    BPG:.44
    FG%:.475
    FT%:.869
    3P%:.265
    MPG 31.6

Its pretty close,Kenny Thomas has beetter stats but, still plays 5 extra minutes the Reef,so if Reef got as much time as KT did he would probably be more productive, not to mention he is the better scorer. We would probably keep KT because he does more of the dirty work and wont want as many shots.

Yea I am not too crazy about bringing in Reef for Kenny...Like TheAnswerIsAi3 said Kenny Thomas was playing alsome when Iverson was hurt, putting up double-doubles every night...Also Kenny is among the top 15 players in double-doubles...with 34 of them...thats only 37 behind KG :P

If we can find a way to trade Big Dog for Reef and then move Kenny to SF [IMG] I am all for it.

I dont think they need to get shareef because we have kenny thomas and corliss williamson. I just dont see a point either way if we get him or not were still not winnign a championship this year.

What good would Kenny Thomas and his contract do to the Blazers? He'll be coming off the bench being paid like 8 million a year. The Blazers goal set 2 years ago was to be under the cap by the time 2005 free agency comes around. They're still aiming at that, and this won't help them. Who knows, maybe they'll pull off and Z-Bo/Redd trade with the Bucks, and sign Abdur-Rahim to an extension. Though it seems unlikely, it's possible. In anycase the Blazers don't want any of the Sixers monster contracts in return.

Reef was puttin up 20 and 10 before being traded to the Blazers. I think he would fit in good. We shouldnt trade Thomas though, IMO he fits in a lot better than reef would.

SAR is a good player but i dont think his style of play will fit in with us..and thomas already fits in with us and does a good job...The stats are pretty close so i dont know if we should go for him or not...it would be good to bring someone good in but i dont think is SAR...i could be wrong he might end up being the piece we need for our puzzle...but you never know..too risky we will just have to wait and see if it happens
