Iverson: Mature & Classy Iverson showed class and maturity in Athens As disappointing as it was to many American sports fan to see our Olympic men's basketball team fall out of glory, I think there was a bright side to this traumatic incident. I'm not sure if it's just because we live in Philly so we see all the interviews with AI after the games or he was the official spokesman for the team. But there he was after every loss and every win, talking to the press and sounding downright diplomatic and patriotic. He said the things he should say at this level, and he said them well. There was no finger pointing, whining, or backstabbing. Forget the fact that AI has had a hand in the demise of our 76ers with his work ethic and tantrums (although he's not soley to blame). The silver lining is that we have now witnessed the growing up of Allen. I was extremely proud to say that he represents our city as well as our country. We can only hope that this new Allen Iverson will come home to Philadelphia with the same respect and attitude he showed in Athens.

I mean if the fans boo him at philadelphia games i reallly dont know how iverson will react.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I mean if the fans boo him at philadelphia games i reallly dont know how iverson will react.</div> They weren't booing him. They were booing the whole US Men's Olympic team and how awful they performed.

I hope for 76ers fans, that he's continuing to take that step forward towards a strong, mature leader for your team. Best of luck.

Maybe 4 years...Maybe 6...Who knows maybe 7 years....it all just depends on how things go for him later in life. This season will be Iversons best season Im sure because he wants to put that ring around his finger before retiring. But how he acted at the Olympics just tells me how good he'll do with everything next year like going to practice, passing the ball alot more, and maybe he'll even score more than he did last year. All i know is that im ready for a championship to come to Philly and see Iverson named Finals MVP.
All that was suppose to be said, was said in the quote stated below. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">We can only hope that this new Allen Iverson will come home to Philadelphia.</div> That?s basically the whole point IMO. If he DOES NOT carry this maturity in Philadelphia this so called new Iverson propaganda will be meaningless. So far, he?s giving us an indication, that?s he?s here and he?s ready to play which is good thing. After, that horrendous season, simple things like that could put a smile on 76ers fan face. So I'm just happy that he was willing to put himself in that position, but the true test is going to be in Philly. If he can't handle it next season, he never will. This upcoming season is going to be a big season for him. He?s going to have to make a statement next season. Granted, that he doesn?t get injured again, it's going to be all eyes on him once again.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Need4Sheed:</div><div class="quote_post">We can only hope that this new Allen Iverson will come home to Philadelphia with the same respect and attitude he showed in Athens. </div> I don't think it is so much a new Allen Iverson as a Allen Iverson with a new attitude. He is still AI and always will be, but he has begun to learn that for him to reach his full potential as a leader he needs to lead by example. When he returns to Philadelphia I still think he will have his occasional run in with the press and have a bad attitude sometimes after a lose because that is just him... he hates to lose like anyone does. When playing in the Olympics I think that his attitude was a little more mellow do to the fact that the press over seas pretty much loves him. They don't try and make him out to be a bad guy after every game, nor do they hang on every word he says that is not something that is considered something acceptable by there standards. Although I am not completely discrediting AI's new attitude I still believe there will be flashes of his old self when some critics arrives during the year. I do think he will be a better on the floor leader , and be the main vocal point for how far the team goes in the playoffs. With his comments that he definitely feels a ring is still coming he will be expected now more than ever to do what ever it takes to get the city a ring. The Sixers don't face as much scrutiny as other Philadelphia teams for not making the playoffs because they can feed off of AI's talents and make a game enjoyable even if they don't win that is how big a talent he is. I honestly see Allen getting a ring in the next four years.
