<div class="quote_poster">Quoting johnny33:</div><div class="quote_post">The Nuggets are a fast-break, run & gun team in a conference dominated by teams that play a half-court game. While this may cause mismatches for some teams, I think Phoenix and Dallas will be better than the Nuggets at this kind of game, and I don't see anyone putting them above the Rockets in preseason predictions. To think Carmelo can keep up with T-Mac anywhere on the court is just silly. Jim Jackson can shoot as well as Voshon Lenard but he's bigger and can post Lenard up, as well as being a better defender. Miller can't shoot from beyond 19 feet. Yao has a size advantage over Camby, and with Camby being a nonfactor on offense, they can double KMart and deny him the ball.</div> Although Jim Jackson may do both does things he can not start at all the two, point, and three position so one of those matchups will be lost lets just say he starts at the three. That leaves the point guard matchup to be dominated by Andre Miller who's game has been under rated by many people since he left Clevladn because he has not averaged as many assists as he did there meaning that the point spot will be up for either Sura or Ward. Ward will not be able to keep up with Miller over what I have seen from him over his career in his new york and his less than memorable time with the Spurs last year. Sura had three tripple doubles last year, but that is really all you can say about him that really stands out other than that he has played like either a quality roll player or average guard at times. So I think the Nuggets will win that matchup over the rockets. Although the Nuggets are a run and gun team they have great shooters on the team such as Lenard, miller, and ANthony if forced into the half court game they can work the ball around the perimeter until a open shot is found not once having to look at the Yao Camby matchup also added with K mart in the post he may draw a few double teams leaving other guys open, but I do agree with you nothing will really put the Nuggets over the Rockets this season besides there depth on the front line which will actually make them a pretty good half court team.
The Rockets might be able to make it to the WCF,but I would be unlikely in my opinion. The Rockets may struggle at first because of the lack of team chemistry,it will be intresting to see how Yao and Tracy play together. A big question should be will Tracy want to tbe the second man to Yao,because in Van Guandys sysytem that is probaly how its going to be.Another question is will the Rockets PG's stay consistant,if Charlie Ward is their starter I dont know how that will work out,in the end I see Sura starting and Lue behind him. But in my opinion the Rockets will take a few seasons to make it to the WCF,they need a few years playing together for them to start making real progress.
Yes, but the trio of Spree, Sam I am, and Garnett only had one season under their belt and they made it into the Western Conference Finals. <----Is that luck then? T-Wolves proved that you don't exactly need a couple of seasons to make it to the major rounds.
