If that's the case on Kobe's part, then that is very unclassy. I don't care if the rape allegation was false, but hearing about what the accuser had to go through with death threats and sneers from people that like Kobe Bryant and wanted nothing more from him than to play basketball for the Lakers, then at least forgive and forget and make an apology to her and to her family to show some class and decency. I'm sure a 5 minute written statement won't hurt at all. On the other hand, to whoever said that the apology wasn't sincere, why did so and so have to come out in public and say it wasn't sincere? Kobe has already been through hell already, does he need more from his teammates?
There is no deal in the works to drop the civil case according to JaneDoe's attorney who when on TV and said that KB in the letter admitted to raping JaneDoe, what a moron. I wish for a deal but if KB doesn't want to give her 5cents then keep going KB, I'll support you thru everything. Link: http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/09/07/bryant.case/index.html <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"Because this case has now been dismissed, Kobe Bryant cannot take the Fifth Amendment. He will have to testify. We'll have an opportunity to cross-examine him in a deposition under oath," attorney L. Lin Wood said Tuesday on CNN's "American Morning." Wood said Bryant's signed statement admitting that he recognizes that his accuser did not see their encounter as consensual was the key in getting his client to decide not to pursue the criminal charge. (Full statement)</div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"If Kobe Bryant had not agreed to those words in a signed public statement, we would still have a criminal case being tried today," the attorney said. "She would have gone forward, even knowing that in that system she was not going to be treated fairly."</div> If you had the chance to be free and the only way that would happen is if your lawyers wrote an apology letter so you wont go to jail I think everyone would take it. I guess JaneDoe did get her autograph.
Why should he apologize about something he believes he didn't do. I knew it wasn't sincere from the first time I heard it. If I was Kobe I would've done the same thing. I would've tried as hard as I could to end it right then and there and leave the liar with nothing. Then, if I had to in order to get the case dropped, well duh, write something to get it dropped.

Do you really think KB would from the bottom of his heart write a sincere apology, I don't think so the guy is very stubborn, you know that. Why take the chance of having a couple of bias juries send you to jail. Why take the chance? She is not the only one that got death threats Pam Mackey and Co. also got death threads. I would also guess KB being a black rich men sleeping with a white girl, don't you think that would fire-up the entire racist community. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">On the other hand, to whoever said that the apology wasn't sincere, why did so and so have to come out in public and say it wasn't sincere? If that's not true then what is. Then people blame KB for being anti-social with his teammates how can he when some can keep their mouth shut. I changed my mind that statements sounds like it came from G

Bad move on Kobe's part. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jesseca328:</div><div class="quote_post">Why take the chance of having a couple of bias juries send you to jail. If the criminal case was still going on as planned, and Kobe suddenly made a written statement with an issue of an apology, then he'd be sweating for a while. But as long as the criminal case was dismissed, and he's looking at a civil suit, it would've been classy and along with that put a better, much brighter picture of Kobe if he went out of his way, and went the extra mile to take 2-3 minutes and read an apology out of his own geniune words on paper. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jesseca328:</div><div class="quote_post">I believe that KB once said, to Jack Haily after he sign the contract, that almost every conversation that he has with a teammate it usually ends up in the papers. If you can't even trust your teammates on certain issues like the dismissing of the criminal case, and somebody coming out and saying his comments were insincere, how can you be social amongst people? Good take Jesseca.
kobe is a really bad player. he doesnt deserve to be in the nba. he is a greedy ball hog and only had good years cuz shaq was dominatin the muddle And drawin defenders. of course his apology wasnt sincere b/c hes arrogant and thinks hes better than every1 else. we'll see how well he does this season without shaq carryin the load
Kobe can afford to apologize. That's why it happened. Even if he was innocent, no lawyer worth his salt is going to persuade him to take the moral high road, when certain freedom was staring him in the face. Kobe will pay her some green and this will go away, without anyone but Kobe and this girl ever knowing the truth of what happened.

He has taken responsibility to committing adultery and I do believe that in the conference he showed some genuinely of how sorry he was for doing that to Vanessa and Natalia. Also why make it sincere when they were both in it for one reason, casual sex. That is according to KB and supporters. He would have a quickie and she would get to brag about the incident to her peers.
If this so called team mate is saying that Kobe apology is insincere, why is he coming out now and saying it?? I Mean is this truthful that this is coming from a "team mate",or is this made up BS. Or is this the case of someone trying to kick Kobe down now??
Do you guys actually believe that KB8 should have apoligized sincerely? She accused him of rape. If he truly believed it consensual, why apoligize? He truly believes that he committed no fault. Did we ever actually believe that his apology was sincere? I didn't. Think about it for a minute. How could he think that it was consenual, yet at the same time see how she could see it otherwise. That implies that his apology was insincere.
it all comes down to one thing- kobes a terrible player and likes to hog the ball. i guess hes a terrible person off the court too
It strikes me as peculiar how alot of people make Kobe out to be some kind of victim. Poor Kobe this, poor Kobe that. I don't feel sorry for him one bit. Kobe is a megarich athlete who is married, and as a megarich athlete he should know that if he behaves like that he could be in for something much like what happened to him. Secondly,he is married EVERYONE should condemn him from here to doomsday about what he did (cheat on his wife) and the message he is sending to his fans by his actions. Kobe brought everybit of this on himself and has no one to blame but himself. He placed himself in this mess by doing something he shouldn't have been doing in the first place. Should he have apologized? If it kept him out of jail it was a smart move..however none of you should say he didn't do it because that hasn't been proven or disproven. The only thing we know is that the prosecution was so inadequate that they bungled the case to the point of no return. So much so that the alleged victim lost faith in them.
Kobe's innocent because he has yet to be proven guilty...not because it has or hasn't been proven. Innocent until proven guilty...although guys that don't care much for him on a personal note, and the media, will twist the life out of this phrase until it loses all credibility. What Kobe did was flat out stupid. However, his intentions were exactly how he proclaims them to be, consensual, because it has yet to be proven otherwise.

Like I said you guys can't call this chick a liar because it hasn't been proven one way or the other. For all you know he is guilty of what he is accused of.

Marriage is a lifelong commitment, through sickness and health and all that stuff. He obviously was not ready for that commitment and has made a mistake that he should, and will be reminded for for the rest of his life. 25 years from now chances are he will turn on ESPN, and it will be sportscenter's 50th anniversary and he will see his mugshot on the TV, and so will his children, if they watch sportscenter. This is a lifelong mistake... As for apologizing. i think he shouldn't have. Sure, it is nice because Kobe went through alot but, the girl went through worse. He should feel like <strike>shit</strike> for the rest of his life. But, it made him sound like he did it, and, even though they agreed it wouldn't be used against him in civil court, ppl saw it.</div></font>

The girl who got 'raped' brought this on herself by even taking it to court. Do you really think she would get no media coverage. Face it when your in court with a big time basketball star or any star. Football, baseball, movies, TV!. your going to have cameras on u and people wanting to find more and wanting to know more. i dont think kobe owes her anything for the media coverage no apologies no nothing, it was not classless, it was the right thing to do. He has no reason to be sorry. The girl should be the one writing the apology to all the jury members, the court, and every taxpayer for wasting so much money and just calling it off. its ridiculous they shud put people like her in jail for or make her pay it back, she spent probably at least a million dollars in court fees. Seriously that could be used for a school or to help a kid read for god sakes.
