    DUI

    DUI Link #2

Not exactly good news for the C's, from several respects:

    1. Alot of those on the franchise don't like GP, from a character standpoint, already. This isn't going to help.

    2. Boston usually has players that aren't involved in legal issues like this. (thanks for jinxing it ranter [IMG] ) Although some may argue that Paytons a Celtic in name only right now and that it shouldn't reflect on franchise.

    3. This is going to hurt his trade value, theres no doubt about that.

From a personal standpoint, I'm not only disappointed, but frankly, pissed whenever I hear about someone arrested for DUI, particularly when it's someone that kids (for right or wrong) look up to.

I lost a freind 8 years ago (ironically in Boston) because someone thought it was no big deal to tie one on and drive. Now I spend November 3rd every year silently suffering and remembering something that no person should have to endure.

Dumb move GP. We're all human, so you get a second chance, but remember:

Hey, last summer I got one in Wildwood, NJ and am still serving my 1 year suspension. I get my license back on December 26th on my birthday. Everyone makes mistakes and it's just human. I know for a fact that I learned my lesson and will never do this again because it is a stupid move. So Payton to will lose his privledges and hopefully will never break this law again.

Glad to hear it. Unfortunate you had to learn that particular life lesson in that manner, but at some point, we all end up learning stuff the hard way. I've certainly learned my share of them the hard way as well.

It's what we take away from those experiences that's important and it sounds like you've taken away something very positive from it.

At his age you'd think he would know...Maybe its just a way of getting out of Boston ,its also maybe its a result of his unhappiness....He wants a ring, obviously hence the move to LA and now he is in Boston which is the last place he wanted to go ,prob'

Apparently, this one's not going away without a fight:

    Paytons Camp Counters Story

Goodwin Sports Management speaking about Gary Payton: (6:45PM ET, Thursday) "Gary Payton was detained by the California Highway Patrol on August 28, 2004, after he tried to exit a gridlocked freeway. Two lanes of the freeway had been shut down as the result of a major traffic accident. Mr. Payton voluntarily provided a breath test and was thereafter immediately released without being booked or having to post bail. According to Barry T. Simons, Mr. Payton's Laguna Beach Attorney, Gary was not impaired or under the influence, and the evidence will show that he was under the legal limit at the time he was driving. Mr. Simons also noted that roadside field sobriety testing is notoriously unreliable, even when properly administered by police. According to Mr. Simons, that was not done in this case." While I'd like to believe he didn't do it, NBC sports doesn't run stuff like this without verifying facts and there are a hell of a lot of facts in thier story that GP's representives story seems to dismiss, like the fact that he never went to the station, was released in his Wife's care, and that he was administered a second test while at the station.

I think GP's team thinks the "LAPD defense" is going to get him off, by making the cops look incompetent. Otherwise, why state that field tests are unreliable and that the cops didn't properly administer the test right?

one way or another, I think its well past time for Gary to talk to the media - every day he doesn't is one more reason not to feel good about his aquisition

Hard to argue with that one ranter. I think everyone would just like to get some closure on this one and just move on.
