<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">For the first time in franchise history, every Kings preseason and regular-season game will be televised to Sacramento-area viewers under a new deal reached between the Kings and Comcast Cable.
The agreement calls for Comcast to launch a 24-hour regional sports network that features the Kings as the centerpiece, augmented by the Monarchs and other as-yet-determined programming.

Financial terms were not disclosed Wednesday, but it's a 10-year deal - a detail that may put increasingly anxious Kings fans at ease over the team's future in Sacramento, where talks on a new arena have crumbled.
It's unclear whether the contract includes an escape clause that would allow the Kings to back out of its commitment to Comcast.

The programming will be part of Comcast's expanded basic cable package, meaning there will be no extra cost to watch the games.</div>

Yup, that right for Sacramento area viewers, you will now be able to watch every single Sacramento Kings game including the preseason games. The deal with Comcast Cable is expected to last for about 10 years. So I think that may be enough for you guys to enjoy.

I found some good information in this article regarding the availability of this comcast package to people who dont have comcast cable!

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">
It remains to be seen whether Kings fans who subscribe to any of Comcast's competitors will be able to watch those games.

The formation of the all-sports network represents a major offensive in the pitched battle for cable and satellite customers, though Comcast said it's offered SportsNet West to its rivals here - including DirecTV, DISH Network and SureWest Broadband

DirecTV spokesman Bob Marsocci said "it's a little premature to say" whether the satellite provider will strike a deal to carry SportsNet West.

"We will either have a deal shortly or we will not," Marsocci said. He declined to say what kind of rights fee Comcast is seeking for the network.</div> My suggestion for those of you who live in Northern California is to contact your provider and request this package (be prepaired to explain what it is however as the person you get on the phone will most likely not have any idea that they are even in talks with comcast about it). I dunno about most people, but I would gladly give up NBATV in favor of a channel that would bring me my local teams [IMG]

They place a certain number on every call & based on that it gives them a rough idea of how many subscribers actually want the product. (a rough example would be 1 call = 100 subscribers... thats not the actual way it works, just a very loose overview). If they get enough interest they will be more likely to work out a deal.

    also of note:
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In addition to the Kings and their surging, sister team, the Monarchs, SportsNet West's programming will include a sampler platter of regional college sports: Fresno State football, Sacramento State football (eventually) and a heavy dose of UC Davis.</div> That is a pretty good deal especially considering that Fresno State is the only school in that group that ever has any TV coverage with any frequency.

    <edit>

    I forgot to add this!!
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">By January, the channel will be available to Comcast customers in the Bay Area, too - though Kings games will be blacked out there, as the Warriors own the TV rights in the territory.</div>
For those who live towards the Bay Area and have satellite service of some sort, this means that you too need to call in & request they make a deal with comcast in order to get this channel included in your lineup.

I dont think this particular post will help anyone here as I dont think anyone here has said they have surewest for their TV provider.

However, the first deal with another provider has been announced. Sureweset communications has reached a deal with comcast to provide the sports channel to their subscription base.

This is important to us satellite users as it puts more pressure on our provider to make a deal with the comcast.

Keep calling your satellite providers and local cable providers (if you dont already have comcast that is) with your requests to add this channel to their lineup!
