Speedy / Fisher Richardson / Pietrus / Cheaney Dunleavy / Najera Murphy / Robinson / Biedrins Foyle / Davis I don't think Warriors are looking for Cisse, who didn't play well in summer league and didn't get invited to training camp, Lee, or any particular players, when they cut Lattner. Since, we already have legit 12 NBA men roster, not to mention Flores, I don't think they wanted to upset any of those 12 players by putting them IL. And, they probably thought Latter will only be a distraction by sitting on IL for all year. Let's see if we can get another Boykins or Cardinal with that roster spot...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Clif25:</div><div class="quote_post">Does this open a spot up for that one big man who is supposed to be a freak shot blocker or something who played in the summer league? I think his name was Cisse? Or maybe they'll add another PG like former Cardinal Art Lee. I don't know nor think there could be too much gained or lost from those moves, but it's a move to note.</div> The Warriors still have 13 guys signed to guaranteed contracts. Of course they could still sign Cisse to a minimum contract and keep him on the IR, but I don't think he got an invitation to training camp, so it's pretty unlikely. I'd definately be happy if it did though, I can't help but look at him and make comparisons to Ben Wallace, particularly in the way they both started their NBA careers.
It's a lot safer to keep one spot open for 10-day contracts in cases of injury to multiple players at one position. All teams generally go through 2-4 of them a year, and need that flexibility.
No movement at NBA trade deadline <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kwan1031:</div><div class="quote_post">Mmm... Little bit surprising, since he can be a 5 mils cap cleaner. I guess Warriors are really looking forward next year's caproom...</div> Cutting Laetner this early in the game, shows Mullins hand prematurely. We will not be making a late year push to acquire a disgruntled NBA all-star with a horrendous contract (AI, Kidd, VC). This is good for the JRich, T-murphy or Yao fanatics because we are either resigning our players or going after the best center in the league. My biggest Mullin Surprises. 1. Signing Fisher (weakens Lakers and Houston, strengthens Warrior back court and outside shooting, restricts long term salary) 2. Hiring Monty (Nice guy, great system guy, but a college guy, do NBA players actually listen to their coaches?) 3. Trading NVE (similar to the logo dumping his 1st round pick Gooden, Mullin got rid of a talented cancer getting cap space filler in return) 4. Trading Dampier for the best NBA Mexican. Given the success of Ginolbi and the team in Argentina which made our second tier all-stars look utterly pathetic, can a player who hustles and loves to compete make up the loss of a grumpy, disgruntled and frequently injured center who has only played well during his contract season.
