<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AA13:</div><div class="quote_post">For the 010's I'll say Kevin Garnett or Jermaine O'neal.</div> By then, both will be in their 30's. They'll still be dominant, but not the most dominant. Lebron is the most reasonable and logical choice and that is a fact.
50's: George Mikan 60's: Wilt Chamberlain 70's: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 80's: Magic Johnson 90's: Michael Jordan 00's: Shaquille O'Neal (so far) My Prediction is for the next 2 years, its going to switch off between Duncan and Garnett, Then Kobe will take over and be the most dominent for bout 5 years ranging from 2007 to about 2012. After Kobe will probably be Lebron unless we get someone who is absolutely the best player ever besides MJ to play the game.
Garnett. hands down for the next couple years. He is the complete package and has not even reached 30 yet.
I really hope a player will take over this game like MJ did. Lebron seems like he will takeover but not yet. I personally believe that Kobe will dominate this year.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting durvasa:</div><div class="quote_post">The only thing Magic has on Larry were the championships, in my opinion. Until the late 80s, I think Larry was considered the better player. He had won three MVPs in a row, before Magic won even one. Once Magic started scoring over 20 points a game, hand his team continued winning championships, he started getting his own MVPs. As far as their individual game, though, I'd rank Bird slightly ahead of Magic. Also, when Magic was peaking in the late 80s, I'd rank Jordan ahead of him in terms of sheer dominance. I guess I'd say that Jordan was to Magic what Wilt was to Russell. Magic had the superior team game, and won the championships, whereas Jordan was the new kid on the block just dominating the competition individually with his brilliant offensive skills. Also, I don't think Duncan dominates the competition the way Shaq does. Between Duncan and Garnett, its a virtual wash right now. But there's no one even close to Shaq's class as an inside force, even at this stage in his career. Shaq demands more attention from the defense than any player in the league, and that's why I'd say he's by far the most dominant of his generation.</div> there was no need for magic to score more than 20 until after kareem retired.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting michiganave17:</div><div class="quote_post">there was no need for magic to score more than 20 until after kareem retired.</div> Sure. I think Magic peaked in the late 80s, though, and Bird peaked in the mid 80s. If Bird's back stayed strong throughout the decade, I think he'd have had a couple more MVPs, and be considered the better player.
