How long does everyone think it will be before Jordan returns to the Bulls orginization in a front office position or as a head/ assistant coach. When he left washington many people reported he would wait quitely until the bulls owner retired to make a bid at owning the bulls team, but really how many of us think he will wait that long? Many others players who have had superstar careers for other teams returned to there team , and has lead them in the front offfice people like Joe Dumars ( excutive of the year, helped put together the 2004 champion detroit pistons, got rip, billups, wallace, wallace, and prince to the pistons the entire starting lineup for the 2004 champions), also Dominke Wilkens, Jerry West (greatest front office personnel ever), and Paxson as well as Pippen ahs been promised a spot in the orginization when he retires. Others have returned to the nba in front office positions for other teams people have made careers out of it larger than possibly there playing careers guys like Mchale, Bird, Isiah Thomas, and others have made a career in the front office also guys like Dr. J, and Bill Cartwright as wlel as a lot of others have made a career with there former team as a head coach. So apparently we all know that Jordan the greatest of all time can not resist the offer to once again rejoin the team he lead to 6 nba titles, the team he won six final mvp's with, 5 league mvp, all star mvp's, as well as other great accomplishments. It is only a matter of time, but the question is how long? and what will be return as? Will it be as a coach?assistant coach?owner?front ofiice team manager? Your thoughts? I personally believe he will return as our general manager or owner soon I am not sure how long exactly considering Paxson has been with the orginization a short time only perhaps they will be co- general managers or something. I think that if he bids hard enough he could eventually own the team question is how much money he want sto give up. Really though when there is a statue of the man outside of your arena it is only a matter of time before he rejoins your franchise.
IMO he shouldn't. he drafted a terrible #1 pick in Kwame brown, then traded away rip hamilton for stackhouse...he doesnt belong in the office, he belongs on the floor, whether NBA or just for fun.
People seem to forget that the Wizards franchise was dieing way before MJ even took his front office position. That Franchise started to die soon as they decided to split up the core unit of Rod Strickland, Chris Webber, Juwan Howard. MJ wasnt apart of the major move that really crippled that franchise, the decision to trade a 24 year old Webber for a 32-33 year-old Mitch Richmond in 1998. Thats the move that really started the downfall of that franchise. If I remember correctly, the 2 fab five members had got into some offseason trouble around that time, so Washington felt for the growth of the team they need to split those two up. And they decided that Howard was the better to build around. Well that decision is the one that led to some of MJ's moves. Webber went to Sacro and was killing the league's best every night, while Howard was playing basically at a 15 & 6 clip. And that decision to let Webb go was looking like a joke. So when MJ got to the Wizard's front office inorder to save face for the franchise a bit. MJ moved Howard to Dallas for a talented young player in Courtney Alexander. But that moves eventually opened up a need for frontcourt help on the Wizards. So the need had to be addressed in the draft. That year its was nothing but High School/teenage bigmen that were projected to be the impact players for the future Brown, Pau Gasol, Eddie Curry, Tyson Chandler, Dasagna Diop etc. All MJ did was go with the bigman that all the scouts around the league where going about...their was no safe bigman choice that year in the draft, everyone of them where gambles. The only safe choice at the top of the draft that year was a SG/SF in Shane Battier. But he didnt address any need for the Wizards. In fact with Richard Hamilton and Courtney Alexander projected to be on the wing that year, drafting Battier would have created a logjam if anything, especially since the speculation of MJ's comeback had already started during the 00'-01 season. So MJ probably already knew he was returning for the 01'-02 season before the 01' draft even came. So drafting Shane made no sense what so ever. MJ got burnt in a draft where 90% of the GM's in the league would have got burnt if they had to chose at the #1 spot because almost all of them would have taken kwame Brown too. And as far as Rip for Stackhouse, I admit MJ burned the Wiz on that deal in the long run, but at the time everyone I seen associated with the NBa, liked that move for the Wizards. People forget that the Rip Hamilton you see today with the Pistons has way more deminisons then the Rip Hamilton that played at Uconn and on the Wizards. Rip Hamilton added improvements to his game since landing in Detroit like the ablity to get to the basket off the dribble at a consistent level and also the ablity to create for other people. Those two aspects where clearly missing during his Wizards days, and those where the two aspects MJ really focused on when he was working with Rip. But the improvements werent coming fast enuff for the Wizards to be a legit team in this league. And MJ has always been high on the fact that young players can only get better with the experience of the playoffs. So with MJ needing to find away to get the other young Wizards players Kwame Brown, Haywood, Etan Thomas, Juan Dixon, Jared Jefferies etc some playoff experience. He traded Rip for Stack who led the Pistons to the playoffs, while having his best all-around regular season the year before. And replaced Rip's potenial with that of Larry Hughes, who had showed signs in G-State. And was slightly younger then Rip. So, yes, those moves burnt MJ and the Wiz in the long run but nobody, not one NBA expect can truthfully say at the time they wouldnt have done the same. And who's to say Rip would have reached his full potenial in Washington, maybe the pressure's of playing under MJ's guidence and living up to what MJ expected held aspects of Rip's game back. And the freedom that he found in Detroit allowed Rip's game to blossom. Anyway I think MJ can do a fine job at being a front office personalty if you put him in a situation where he isnt so far behind the eight ball so to speak.
