<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jayson Williams is looking to make an NBA comeback. The ex-Nets star was forced to retire in 1997 with a bad back, and he's 36 years old. But he was at Basketball City the other night with L.A. Clippers star Elton Brand and two other players, working hard and doing windsprints between scrimmages. Screenwriter Penny Marshall stopped by after watching a match at the U.S. Open to see them play. "He's trying to get back in shape for a comeback," said our source. Williams and Brand were back the next day to continue the workouts.</div>-article courtsey of benmaller.com
Ummm... What happened to his trial? Oh wait, was there a mistrial, and the prosecutor decided not to retry him? Am I making this up? Someone help me?
If Jay Will can get that Knee back together, that got hurt in the fall with Steph, then I think he could still help a team because he was one of the league's best rebounders during the time of his injury and a very effective post defender who could play both the 4/5 spots. So with the Center spot being so weak, he can still be an effective player at the postion on the backbords and defensively for a playoff caliber team who needs bigman help and is willing to put up with some of Williams off-court partying and extra cirrcular behavior. It should be intersting to see if/what team is willing to take that risk after the limo driver inccident, But Jay Will clearly had something left in the playing tank before the Knee injury.
He would only bring bad publicity to the NBA which doesn't need it. The NBA is becoming a freak show IMO. They need to censor the players coming in, so the league doesn't become a mockery.
Is this actually true that Jayson Wiliams will comeback or not?? I Don't know if this will work out or not,but it kinda seems unlikely he will comeback..stranger things have happened before
Is the source quoted in the article reliable? Is the website making this up just to get publicity? He was just seen working out, which doesn't really imply that he wants to come back. I wouldn't believe this until I hear something directly from Williams or his agent.
One thing's for sure, no team will never give him an open shot but I guess If Williams can come back, this will be his final shot Ok, I'm done now
I don't realistically see any team offering this guy a shot, even if this rumor is true. Way too big of a media and public relations headache to bother with given the fact that it's unlikely he'd be any kind of impact player anyways. However, as someone else mentioned, I'll believe this is legit when Williams or his agent say something. Ben Maller's site "borrows" all his rumors from other sources, so I have no faith in anything coming off that site.
I doubt that he's trying to comeback. That's crazy. Even if he didn't have all those problems, he has been out for to long and I don't think he contribute very well anyways.
he's got blood on his hands. if i were GM, i wouldn't touch him with a 10-ft pole. plenty others are out there who can get the job done without attracting any more undue attention. trial balloon, more than anything else.
maybe he's got no more money after all that trial and hard partying... aside of the murder, he's such a funny and lovable guy to have on and off the court... if he comes back he can be valuable bench player who gives nice defense, 4-6 ppg, and 6-8 rpg...
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> aside of the murder, he's such a funny and lovable guy to have on and off the court... </div> That's a pretty big aside, don't you think.... I think the funloving guy visage is gone for Jayson Williams now.
According to Professional Sports history, all professional players who have made a comeback have played worse as it was basically pointless. Even the new movie "Mr. 3000" proves it LOL.

Not all players who make a comeback have embarrased themselves, Michael Jordan won another three championships and made a lot of money.

Perhaps he wasn't as good as player, but he proved to the world that he could still dominate without his past athleticism and being basically grounded. Doesn't seem pointless to me.
How many Jason Williams are there? There's the one that plays for Memphis and has a ink with And 1, theres this one, and the one that played for the bulls before his car accident. This is confusing..
^ before those two jason williamses, there's this bruising forward jaYson williams who played for the Nets until 1999 when he broke his leg and was forced to retire... to hagrid, yeah that's a pretty big aside but it's still "aside" peace.
