"It sounds crazy to write a book about my life before I turn 21, but so much has happened to me so quickly," Anthony told the Daily News. "I wanted to share my story with kids because I had a rough childhood with a lot of bumps in the road, but I was able to overcome things. "I grew up in the rough streets of Brooklyn and Baltimore and I've seen things no child should see," he continued. "Streetcorner drug dealing, prostitution, gangs, armed robberies, violence and murder was all around me. I saw my first deadly shooting when I was 10."</div> -story form benmaller.com
This is sure going to be interested if I can find it anywhere around my house, at the library or the local book store im gonna for sure buy it. Melo is one of my favorites so for sure. But I do think it's a little early to write a book about ur life.
Well even though Melo is young he has probally gone threw a lot of stuff, growing up in B-More,so its not to really to early for him because he has been threw some stuff.
yeh i agree silky btw thanks alot for the interesting article. Sometime or a lter i'll get around to reading a couple of chapters of his book. I think its really good that he's trying to be an inspiration to kids out there.

I dont think its anything that I am going to pick up any time soon. A ball player writing a book after his first year in the league is not going to have a lot im interested in. If he were to write something after he retires? that I might be more interested in.
Wow Melo, how unique. Man, everyone and their mom has a ghetto story to tell. Why not just release a rap cd that chronicles his life on the streets. I doubt that he actually paid attention in his writing classes at Syracuse (let alone went to them). I think his book should include a chapter about his ability to make guarantees and not follow through.
I'm a big 'Melo fan, but even I think that a book about his upbringing is pointless. The 'hood where he grew up in Baltimore is about as bad as it gets, but he isn't the only person that grew up in some shit. He went to a prep school his senior year in high school, and he was very much taken care of at Syracuse. He may have not had much growing up, but at age 20 I don't know many people that have more than he has now. He might be doing this to try to get the public back on his side after what happened in Athens. If this is the case than I am disappointed.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jurassic:</div><div class="quote_post"> I think his book should include a chapter about his ability to make guarantees and not follow through.</div> I would LOVE to read that chapter. I think Anthony's big Nike contract has gone to his head. I think his actions have alot to do with that contract in his back pocket. It will be a long time before I forget about his "pouting" at the olympics. I thought it was pathetic to watch a professional athlete handle himself that way. Can anyone honestly say he will ever put the team ahead of himself anytime soon? He's young and he's already set financially for life, why not take advantage of this and go out and work hard and see if he can leave his mark on the game. Things like "not playing enough at the olympics", and "having everyone like us give him a hard time" should DRIVE him go become better or ever the BEST. Remember "whats his name" who didn't make his high school team in grade 10???? You know that dude who also got drafted 3rd in the NBA draft back in the early eighties. Look at what some obstacles and setbacks did to his career. I think things worked out pretty good for Michael.

People who have had to deal with not only growing up around drugs, but had to deal with their own addictions. To me those people have something to write about.
Why all of a sudden is everyone talking about how he was born in Brooklyn, what happened to Baltimore? Why is my city always left out? But thank you silky and Iron shiek for pointing out that it is hard living in Baltimore. But he just wrote this because Lebron already has two books out. It makes me sick, what does he and Lebron write about the good ol' days of playing in fifth grade. Lebron isn't even old enough to drink and Carmelo barely is, they have no right to be writing a book. You don't write a book until either your career is over, or it's late in your career, these guys only have one season under there belts. WHAT IS GOING ON?
why is it wrong to write a book because he only played one professional season? If Lebron has written two books why the **** arent we complaining about him writing books. I dont see why its such a bad thing that carmelo wrote a book.
In my post if you read it close I complained about it. But Lebron didn't really have that much to do with his books, he didn't really tell his story, his story was told for him in those two books.
