Jason Kidd coming to Portland...? http://www.sportsline.com/nba/story/7681034 Praise the lord! that would be great!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting friedrice092289:</div><div class="quote_post">jus think how the west all star team would be lik if this happd!</div> Kidd, Kobe, Tmac. Garnett, and Yao most likely (assuming Tmac is on the ballot as a forward). Not bad.
They should request Shareef and a first round pick for Kidd. He is the best leader they have and they should get a lot back for him. This would be a steal for the Blazers considering they havn't had a PG that hasn't gotten in trouble in a while(dismissing the Kidd assault trial which was total BS).
Portland president Steve Patterson confirmed to SportsLine.com Tuesday that the Blazers and the Nets are negotiating a deal which would send G Jason Kidd to Portland and F Shareef Abdur-Raheem in the opposite direction. A different source reports that the Blazers have already began seeking a medical opinion on the knee fracture for which Kidd was operated on during the summer and which figures to have him out until December. The surgery was successful, and Kidd has made it clear he would like to leave the Nets, who were sold to Bruce Ratner in the spring and have essentially purged their roster since then. Likewise, Abdur-Raheem is said to have seeked a trade, dissatisfied with playing behind Zach Randolph on the depth charts. Shareef's $14.6 million contract will expire following the upcoming season, while Kidd signed a six year deal worth over $100 just last summer.
I dont think this is a true story, why would the blazers want so many pointgaurds? They already have Damon, Sebastian, and Van exel do they really need one more? I'd be pissed if this deal went through, Kidd has a lot more value than Shareef Abdur-Rahim and then who would the Nets have to play pointgaurd, Jacque Vaughn and Zoran Planinic??????
thats true buckets. maybe one of portlands many points will be involved in this trade also considering the contracts dont match. I truely think portland needs a slashing gaurd at this point that can create. And i guess kidd is the answetr to there prayers. i cant wait to see if this happens. And by the way man waht a teacher kidd could be for sebastian
If this were to happen, (and I'll be honest, I don't see it happening) the Nets better get more out of Portland than just Reef, because the likelyhood of him bailing at the end of the coming season is pretty good, given that the only player left on the Nets worth talking about is Richard Jefferson. And to answer Buckets question, the Blazers don't want one of the Pg's you mentioned. They've been trying to move Damon for over a season now.
I dont like this idea for the Nets, but hey maybe if the Blazers offered some young players like Randolph or something it can happen because the Nets are in the rebuilding stage. But I wouldnt want a player like Reef whose stats my start dropping because he is close to be out of his prime. Imagine how good this would be for Telfair,if J-Kidd went to the Blazer he would be a great mentor and teacher of the leauge to Telfair,in the end this would make Telfair a better player .
I read that since Sebastian is a Native of Brooklyn...he would want to be traded to New Jersey so Reef and Telfair for Kidd.
The only reason New Jersey would even consider this is because of the length of Kidd's contract and his continual raises into the $20 million per year area. They can get out now and also get back an expiring contract. Obviously, current skill wise, New Jersey is getting the short end of the stick. Since they already have lost Martin, this is probably the most opportune time since fans are probably already depressed and getting ready for the whole rebuilding process again. Also, Kidd's value is not going to get much higher unless he manages to bring the Nets far into the playoffs again. If New Jersey is looking to further reduce payroll or try to get more for their money, a trade could include Mourning's contract (about $11 million over 2 years) or Harris ($2.5 million in his last year) in return for Stoudamire (who is also in the last year of his contract at about $12 million) or Anderson (who has 2 years at about $8 million per year left). Still, New Jersey essentially would tear down their roster, and Shareef would be left in the same position as Atlanta (a rebuilding team, albeit with Jefferson at least).
Kidd's wife would never let it happen <div class="quote_poster">Quoting MaxaMillion711:</div><div class="quote_post">http://www.sportsline.com/nba/story/7681034 Praise the lord! that would be great!</div> I will guarantee you that Jouanna is not going to Portland. She is a media hound and will never let him go to an area that is not a media capitol. LA, Dallas, Houston or even San Francisco, but no way Portland. Bank on it!

Bank on it! </div> Please.... she has no choice in the matter. Getting traded is alot different to being a free-agent and being able to sign where ever you want. Kidd seems to be fine with a trade to Portland, a player's wife needs will not be valid in trade talks. NJ will make a move to help them talent wise and cap wise. This moves does that and It also could make Portland a contender for homecourt advantage in the playoffs. Thats If Kidd can come back from surgery successfully.
i don't think sebastian will be traded to the Nets (although not impossible) because maurice cheeks really wanted him badly, that is why he picked at the 13th spot, when he was projected to go lower, the blazers could've drafted him in around the 20's, but they didn't wanna risk seeing him go to another team. Plus i think Maurice wants to bring kidd in to mentor sebastian, they play a very similar type of basketball. Just my thoughts.
Kidd not headed to Portland [quote name='AllNet']Please.... she has no choice in the matter. Getting traded is alot different to being a free-agent and being able to sign where ever you want. Kidd's contract contains a no trade clause, just like Shaq's did, and don't believe for a minute his wife has no choice, there is a reason he didn't sign with San Antonio last year and its his wife. Ever since he popped her in Phoenix she has had him wrapped around her finger and she will not go for Portland. :thumbsdow

From what Kidd has said he will be happy going to the west as long It's with a talented team he can play with. He will have no problems in Portland, he will be happy to be in a winning situation. Kidd's wife may not want to go to Portland but in the end she may have to. If this trade doesn't happen It will be to do with Portland not wanting to take on a huge contract and ruining their cap space for next summer. Portland are expected to have around 14.5 worth of cap space next off-season, they need to decide If they want to take Kidd or go into free-agency with plenty of cash to spend.

Although it seems like he's been in the league forever, he's still only 28, as old as Cuttino Mobley. Also, Shareef has one year left on his contract, which the cost-cutting Nets will welcome with open arms, with the plan that they let him walk after it expires. Also, a trade to New Jersey and being one of the top two offensive options will do wonders for Abdur-Rahim's free agent value. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Imagine how good this would be for Telfair,if J-Kidd went to the Blazer he would be a great mentor and teacher of the leauge to Telfair,in the end this would make Telfair a better player .</div>Well, Damon Stoudamire and Van Exel are also experienced in their own right and would be good to teach Telfair as long as Damon doesn't teach him to smoke. All in all, this trade sounds good in theory for both teams.
i dont think Kidd would want to move to Portland. he wants to be on a team that has a good chance of winning a championship. and i dont think Portland has any even with Kidd on board.
