<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Houston Rockets, after picking up the option on Yao Ming, are now looking towards extending the contract of Tracy McGrady.

McGrady, still only 25, can opt out of his contract after this season, but he has expressed interest in signing a long term extension with Houston.

Yao and McGrady should become the most formidable center/guard duo in the league this year, and many year's thereafter.</div>

Wouldn't it make sense to actually wait and see how the Rockets play this year before extending his contract?

In my opinion NO! Cuz you cant expect things to start clicking right away. We can either have a good or bad season this year. But if we have a bad year, its not gonna stay like that in the coming years cuz things will improve.

I doubt that T-Mac would want to leave after one year anyways. Cuz he should know how fortunate he is getting to play with a young, skilled, 7'5" center.

This would have to go terribly wrong if T-Mac opted out after just one season. I don't think you would have a blockbuster trade and only have it for one season. I know they made need more time together, but they should be projected to win at least 50 games this season.

I think they should sign him right away, because even if he does want to leave the rockets after this season they'll get someone in return because he's a good player and has tons of trade value. I think that T-Mac will be happy here in Houston with Yao and the others hopefully they can make it to the conference finals/semi finals this year.

i think tracy is going to do great in houston for years to come.

I mean heres a guy that can literally win games by himself. i believe the rockets plans ont he court should be dump the ball to yao an d work off him while he in the game. and then when Yao get exhausted. let it all flow throught tmac like in orlando.

I'm really excited to see this duo perform together.

Another Reason why i dont think T-Mac wont leave is that he felt the love the Houston gave him. I mean when your press conference sounds like a playoff game you gotta be happy here.

yah.. gameplan should be to let Yao try to score inside, first and foremost.. since he has such a high FG% and you all remember those games where he's like 12/15 or 8/10 from the field... some nights he just doesn't miss.. If Yao gets going, he'll obviously get doubled. I think TMac's FG% will be a career high this season with all the open looks he'll get. Hopefully they can defend as well as they did last season.

The perfect game plan for us would be to dump it down to Yao each game, and let our guards and perimeter players work around him. Because of his creativity, Yao can find the open person on almost every play. Case in point, remember that little back door over-the-head drop pass to Cuttino Mobley in his rookie season? I can see a lot more of that coming with McGrady coming off the back door cut.

We all know how good a passer Yao is. Why do you think his assist numbers are so low? Are his teammates not doing a good enough job moving without the ball?

Francis, well, had trouble doing many things last season, and Mobley started sitting on the perimeter a lot. JVG, I'm assuming, did not praise the flashy passing, just wanted sound, and simple basketball. I'm totally fine with that, but, There's gotta be a high point sometime in the game. To answer the question, yes, the Rockets off-the-ball movement was really bad. They weren't able to take full advantage of Yao. They cant double Yao and Tracy, and if they do, thats great for us.

Yeah, but good ball movement away from the ball doesn't have to be flashy. God, Van Gundy's coaching style is SOOOO boring. I mean, look at the Utah's offense with Stockton and Malone in the 90s. That was very effective and not flashy, they committed few turnovers, and they had cutters going to the basket all the time with off the ball screens and stuff. That's fun to watch, in my opinion, and it gets the whole team into the game. Why can't the Rockets do more of that?

CD is busy in surgery because his eye keeps bleeding. The man already can't see out of the other eye. Extension won't happen for a few weeks i bet because of it.

T-Mac was the missing piece i believe. If he goes to a old and better form..it's all over for our divison and we'll take it. If yao starts to dominate...and Jimmy and Reece gaines can step up..i think we'll be fine. Sura and Ward will probally teach reece gaines i believe. as well.
