In a three-way scenario shaped by the Minnesota Timberwolves' desire to land Kidd, the Knicks would send Thomas to the Nets and end up with Minnesota's Szczerbiak and New Jersey's Aaron Williams. The Nets also would land the Timberwolves' Sam Cassell and Ervin Johnson as compensation for shipping out Kidd, who is coming off knee surgery and has $90 million left on the $103 million contract he signed last summer.

I think the trade is decent. I know if we lose Kurt Thomas it is a big loss however Wally Szcerbiak is a great shooter. He shot 50% from the field a couple of seasons ago. Losing Kurt Thomas will open the door for Sweetney who has been tearing up the summer leagues and is developing into the next Elton Brand. I do think losing Kurt Thomas will make our weak backcourt even weaker . I also think that Wally will be making a lot of money if he ends up on the bench. Marbury and Houston will be in the backcourt but Wally and Tim Thomas are both small forwards. And Tim Thomas will probably complain if he is not a starter, which will only disrupt chemistry. Although Tim Thomas can physically play the PF position his lack of rebounding skills (4.8 last season) make him a poor candidate for that position. I also don't want to see the 02-03 Knicks front court with Thomas 6'9 Harrington 6'9 Sprewell 6'5 all undersized but, they did manage to win 37 games despite being severly injury plagued (McDyess 82 games, Sprewell missed the begining 8 games Ward 16 games).
I think it is a good trade. I also took into condideration that Wally is injury proned but i think he still will be a great match in New York
