<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The usual route from the NBA to the Hall of Fame is a one-way ticket, not round trip. But former great Clyde Drexler, named to the Hall last weekend, wants to get back on the court.

Drexler, 42, said Thursday is he seriously considering returning to the NBA and lists the Nuggets as a possibility.

"If someone with a chance to win a championship would call, I'd consider it," said the 6-foot-6, 222-pound Drexler, a 10-time all-star who retired in 1998. "I know I could do it."

Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe, a former teammate of Drexler's, is intrigued by the idea. He also has a roster spot available for a backup shooting guard and money available under the salary cap.</div>

After all the stupid things that Carmelo has said and done this past year, it's clear that he needs a mentor. That's the only logical reason I can think of for signing Clyde.

I don't think Clyde would come back. He's too old and he's been away from the game for so long. If he came back at all, it'd be soley to mentor the young players on whatever team he were to go to.

Drexler was in great shape at 36, grabbing over 6 boards a game and scoring almost 19 points a game. I think he could pull it off. He wouldn't average double figures, but he could help any team. Heck, I'd want him to play for Houston again!

But would he be allowed to play again, after entering the Hall? Has a player ever tried to make a come back after being inducted?

This would be a huge mistake for Drexler. He has already turned 42 and has seen his best days pass him. He put on a couple pounds since he retired, and like most 40plus years athletes he has bad knees. If the Nuggets need a backup SG it would be stupid to pick up Drexler. I wonder if Drexler can even dunk now. All these people think they can make comebacks since MJ madeone that thrived on mediocraty. And they all have such big ego's that they think they can do better then what he accomplished as a Wizard.

Drexler said if he comes back, he'd want to play maybe 20 minutes a game. He knows his limitations. He's not going to try to take over the team like Jordan did. And he still runs 5 miles a day, so I don't know how about his knees are. He may not be able to dunk, but in limited minutes he would definitely contribute. If I were the Nuggets, I'd try to pick him up.

Clyde wouldn't come out of retirement for money.... I would love to see him play in the NBA agin. He is one of my favorites of all time. It would be nice to see him go to the Heat as they have the best chance of winning the championship. Can we say three peat?

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">6'6" he barely has to jump</div> Barely have to jump?? Not really, i know people that are 6'6" that can't dunk and they aren't all that unathletic just a little vertically challenged. Jordan could dunk when he came back, but he missed some too and he was probably as good if not better than Clyde in their primes at dunking. Jordan came back at a younger age of 39-40 rather than 42. I could see clyde not being able to dunk. He probably would still need atleast a 20-25 inch vert to dunk after playing in the NBA have some shot knees and ankles thats possible that he doesnt' have that.

It's not the best of moves, but don't automatically assume that Drexler's coming back to counter Jordan's comeback. That's just ridiculous. These players love the game, and they want to play it. I think it pretty much ends there. Most players who would make any sort of a comeback have plenty of money already, it's for the love of the game.

It's true. Haven't you seen the article? If you haven't, then check out the Nuggets forum and you'll find a link in there (or just look at the first post). As for if it's actually going to happen, I have no idea, although I hope not.
