<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Nets and Rod Thorn are nearing completion on a three-year contract extension, ending speculation that the team president would leave when his current agreement expires after next season. Thorn confirmed his commitment Wednesday to staying the course with the franchise, saying ownership and his attorney were finalizing the details of the contract. Several sources close to Thorn said he had a change of heart about staying with the Nets after the original investment group entering into ownership with developer Bruce Ratner dissolved. Only after growing comfortable with the second wave of investors buying into the group did Thorn finally consent to reconstructing the franchise for a second time. </div> Full Story (Must sign up to read article)
We'll I really do hope Rod re-signs, he has done alot for this franchise, right now he is catching some un-do slack for the offseason moves. But thats largely in part of new management pretty much stripping him of his power in certain ways. In someways, Iam shock Rod wants to re-sign because Iam pretty sure that there are alot of teams around the league that would allow him to have full decision making control cause its pretty clear Ratner's pulling all the strings in Jersey. And its probably going to stay that way from a budget stand point.
Even though I'm a C's fan, I think Rod Thorn has done some really good things for the Nets franchise. If he feels he can work with the new ownership (despite their rocky start) then I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt to be able to try to recreate the magic that got the Nets out of being perennial cellar dwellers.

Either way, I hope Rod does resign. I bet he does because of all those draft picks. GMs love playing around with them.
It has to do with no one confusing my opinion for being that of a homeristic Nets fan who's only talking out of loyalty.

There is no confusion of loyalty. It's not obligatory that you must slander Thorn just because you're a Celtic fan.

He was saying,in his unbiased opinion,Thorn has done a good job. Ain't too hard to comprehend man.
