Rod Thorn takes air out of ALL current trade rumors <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Nets continued to refuse to comment yesterday on speculation that they might trade Jason Kidd, but team officials are perturbed that talk of trading Kidd for Portland's Shareef Abdur-Rahim had been portrayed so seriously in the media, an Eastern Conference executive said. The Nets have had cursory conversations with several teams, including Portland, about Kidd, but nothing remotely serious, the executive said. The executive said the Nets were not shopping Kidd and that their hope was to keep him. New Jersey is baffled why Portland's president, Steve Patterson, made comments Tuesday indicating that actual trade talks involving Kidd and Abdur-Rahim had occurred. He was quoted on CBSSportsline.com as saying talks regarding the two players are "interesting, but I don't know if anything will happen."</div> Full Story( must sign up to read the article)
Nextgeneration, you see that it says I edited your post, all I did was put (must sign up to read) simply to inform the people before the click on the link. Anyway I was able to read about this in the local paper earlier this mourning, And I pretty much figured people made to big of a deal out of the situation. The Nets simply made some calls to several teams, something that they did at the begining of the summer as well, when they were deciding who to keep Kidd or Martin. Anyway I dont think the Nets would ever give Kidd to Portland with getting Telfair in return because he would be the most benefit to them on that Portland roster. Telfair would do alot for the box office sales of the Nets once the move to BK occurs in 2008 or 2009.And by that time Telfair should have had plenty time to develope and would be ready to become a big time player for the Nets. A developed Telfair, A 28-29 year-old(still in prime stage) RJ, and a bigman acquired with one of those 1st round picks the Nets got from Denver, seems like a team that could really draw fans in Brooklyn. The problem is Telfair cant be dealt till December, so I dont know why the Nets would give them Kidd, now. I know all the rumors had Kidd for Reef straight up, but I would think the Nets would ask for more than just future cap space for Kidd. All Reef would be to the Nets is future cap space, because their is no way the Nets would re-sign him at the end of the season to a long term contract with Kidd gone. And no chance at the playoffs for years to come. So the Nets would definately be asking for a deal to be extended to get Telfair as well. Maybe these teams would have more serious talks toward the Febuary trade deadline.
Kidd will not traded for reef, but will be sent to Timberwolves... I agree !because KG and Kidd can also get rings...
Rod Thorn takes air out of ALL current trade rumors. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I would be very, very surprised if Jason Kidd is traded" Thorn said in a television interview with The Associated Press.</div> USAToday.com (Direct link provided in post #5, located under mine) Rod Thorn pretty much ending these trade rumors doesnt really shock me, actually like he goes on later to say in the article, its kind of crazy these rumors went so far. None of the rumors really made much sense. Why would we go from offer Kerry Kittles for Reef to now offering as Portland newspapers reported our best player for Reef? just seems like to much in an upgrade in offer. And the T-wolves rumor didnt make much sense for either side, Cassell is a better fit for Minny's style than Kidd. And Cassell & Kurt Thomas really dont benefit the rebuilding Nets as far as long term goes. So this doesnt shock me.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">According to Nets chief executive Rod Thorn, It does not seem likely they will deal their all-star point guard. "I would be very, very surprised if Jason Kidd is traded," Thorn said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. Many teams have been mentioned as potential suitors for Mr. Kidd including Portland and Minnesota. However, the Nets will only deal Kidd if they feel they are made significantly better by the trade. "I would never say I won't trade any player," Thorn said. "But you are talking about one of the best players in the league. To think we are just going to give him away is foolish. It's mind boggling." </div> Full Story <font color="Red">Thread merged, btw, thanks for providing the correct link TNG-Henacy</font>
Logically speaking, who could the Nets trade for? As long as Kidd stays with the Nets, Rod Thorn looks good because Kidd brought him tremenbous success. The Nets, for obvious reasons, are not going to trade Kidd for anyone who is not a proven superstar. The obvious reason for that is that Kidd, in the Net's view, is a superstar. I can't agree more with such a view as I think that Kidd can still lead a to victory. Maybe his athletism will go down in upcoming years, but there is nothing that can take away the leadership that he brings onto the court. I would even be surprized if a Kidd-for-Carter trade occurs .
