<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Scottie Pippen, holder of six rings, the greatest sidekick of all-time is set to retire after 17 years in the NBA.

All $5.3 million of Pippen's guaranteed salary will count against the NBA salary cap. If Pippen were to agree to forfeit some money -- a long-shot possibility -- it could help the Bulls' payroll for purposes of the luxury-tax threshold.

He will retire with career averages of 16.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.96 steals per game. His 208 career playoff games rank second to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's 237. </div>

I figured this would be coming. He hasn't been fully healthy in a couple seasons and his age has really begun to show. I do think he should forfeit some of that money though. That's just my opinion though. Give the team you played most of you career with and the team that gave you six rings, give back a little money.

Why should he give some money back? They knew he was old, and should have known better than to pick up a player and agree to pay him for that long. He "earned" it.

That's like saying that MJ should donate money to the Bulls.

I thought he retired already. But yeah, he shouldn't have to give any money back. They shouldn't have made that deal in the first place.

I loved Pippen as a player, he was always shadowed in MJ's greatness. Probably one of the most well-rounded players to ever play the game.

Pippen is a respectable person and player, and he will be missed in this league. He was a great role model for the younger players and I hope he wants to get into coaching later on down his life, I think he would make a good coach.

Pippen, like MJ, has always been a Bull at heart. Personally, I wouldn't take advantage of the Bulls' business decision and would forfeit some money to see the team I love increase their chances of succeeding.

He didn't like the bulls management, they skimped him all kinds. He didn't like them at all, freakin jerry krause and shit. He should not forfeit any money, its his and he should get it. If they care he can come sit on the bench again. I mean either away he'll get it.

I think we all saw this coming. This is an end to a great career. I wish we could've at least had the Portland Pippen when he came to Chicago, he played very well as a Blazer, but his knees couldn't hold up.

How long did it take you to type that while capitalizing the beginning of EVERY word? That's kind of scary.

He typed in all caps, it's changed to that way. Typing that way gets very annoying, lol.

pip turned 39 yesterday. maybe gettin older has somethin to do with his retirement thoughts

as for the money, obviously there is no obligation for him to give up some cash, but it would be a nice gesture on his part. they should settle on an amount.

scottie had a great distinguished career; however, I thought sometimes his whining and complaining tarnished him...there was his game against the Knicks when he refused to go in the game, as well as his whole stint in Houston...but hes definitely one of the greatest of all time and he will be missed...
