    (State of the Warriors)

"People are wise to the way of the Warriors.

Writers now regularly bash the team's inept ownership, revolving door at coach and oft-misguided personnel moves. Fans are weary after a 10-year playoff drought. And agents have learned that Golden State, in NBA parlance, translates into the phrase "willing to overpay for mediocre talent." Or something like that.

This year promises more of the same. The fans will come out in droves, the Warriors will win 33 to 38 games and the Arena in Oakland will be dark again come playoff time. ..."

I just want to see one analyst saying at least one positive thing given we started over last year by getting rid of Jamison and cleared out all those bad contracts, fired our most winning coach of the decade and hired Mullin and demoted St. Jean. I mean any moron can look at the warriors 10 year playoff drought and talk like they know something. But then again I guess the warriors this year are a bit of a mystery because they're still working with developing players and old veterans that come off the books next year. Most important of all, who is considered an impact player? So far I thought it was Brian Cardinal, Claxton, and Dampier from looking at last year when it came to managing both ends of the court. Now we only are left with one player from last year that I thought made a difference in scoring and making the other team hurt either by getting outrebounded, in foul trouble, or outhustled. So It could be another inconsistent year where they are on at times and then they're off when it counts if we're having to rely on just Richardson and Dunleavy. At least there's hope before the season starts. I mean look at the heat and how they were able to turn things around last year. I attribute their success to playing their rookie, aquiring a good fundamentals type player in Lamar Odom, and having good perimeter and post defenders and veterans. (Also having a competent GM and coach)
Maybe we have something like that if Jrich can turn into Eddie Jones and Pietrus or Biedrens or Dunleavy shows as much promise as Dwayne Wade. That's probably a stretch though.

Let's see what Mullin will do now as GM and let's never forget what started this chaos (owner Chris Cohan and former GM Dave Twardzick!). St. jean didn't really help the situation either, but it just goes to show that cleaning up after a previous GM can take a while. [IMG] Also about our new coach. I think he will do great once his system is in place and players know what to expect. Nobody likes an open court game unless its run by coach Dunleavy or Larry Brown.
