<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Spurs are almost done finalizing their roster and are looking for one last big man to add at the league minimum. Former UT center, James Thomas, seems to have garnered the Spurs attention and it now seems the Spurs are ready to move on him. Mr. Thomas is the University of Texas? all time leading rebounder and averaged 11.0 as a Junior, only to be sidelined his Senior year with a back injury. If the Spurs sign Thomas, it is a sign that the Mailman will probably not be running his postal route in the San Antonio any time soon. </div> Full Story
I like Thomas. He is a strong rebounder and post scorer, although he might be out of shape after sitting out for a whole season. If he makes the team, I expect him to play a bit more than the normal rookie, because of his experience and size.
Is that the dude that has the hairstyle like Edgerrin James? If so he's pretty undersized isnt he , I'd say he would be a PF in the NBA not a C...from what I saw of him at UT (assuming Im talking about the right guy) he has a horrible shot even for a big man , basically he aint much of an offensive player. But he's a longhorn so I dont mind seeing him in a Spurs uni , and he must be one hell of a rebounder to make an NBA team despite being such a mediocre offensive player...wouldnt it be something if he turned out to be anoter Ben Wallace?
I liked Thomas at UT a guy who wasn't afraid of physical contact and got the rebounds. He seems like the kind of guy the Spurs would like kind of in the Malik Rose mold.
James Thomas was my favorite player in college, it was too bad that he got hurt his senior he probaly was going to some damage in the paint. I hope that the Spurs sign he will be a great addition.
Assuming it's the same person (not going to register, sorry), Thomas is from the Schenectady area. I've seen him play both locally and at UT. He's a big body with a decent work ethic and good rebounding skills. I can't see any harm in SA giving him a shot at camp. If he doesn't work out, no harm, no foul.
I'm going to say it first James Thomas is going to be the next Rodman he is in shape he plays good D he grabs boards like nothing, he is going to make the Spurs a better team in the future. that is a good pick up for the Spurs.
James Thomas is an absolute beast, and always gives his hardest. I don't know about the next Rodman, he was one in a million, but he'll be pretty damn near close. He would have been drafted pretty high if he wouldn't have been injured.
I LOVED James Thomas when he was at Texas, he is fun to watch, hard worker, boards, dirty work...Hair style reminds me of an Edge James or a Brian Grant. I want to see him get a chance at the pros...
