?We have monitored Jamal?s status and have been in close contact with him throughout the summer, and his knee has simply not improved,? said Hornets General Manager Allan Bristow. ?He still has significant swelling caused by bone rubbing on bone. Unfortunately, we have mutually come to the decision that he will sit out the 2004-05 season, but we remain optimistic about him resuming his career at some point in the future.?

The Hornets were 58-53 without Mash in the lineup...

Seems like he is on the road or an early retirement.

Well this is already in the Hornets thread but what the heck I guess....Mashburn is a great player. Its a shame to see him go into a situation where he could be facing early retirement. He really did have a role in New Orleans when he actually played. He scored 21 ppg and 6 rpg in the 19 games he played last year. The year before that he averaged the exact same stats but in 82 games. If he would have played all 82 games this year im sure Hornets would have went farther than what they did. Like I said tho...Its a shame....maybe he'll get better...who knows...but as of right now...Im sure he will be retiring unless he decides to be like Grant Hill and sit on the bench for 5 more years and get payed big money.

Looks like we've got the next Grant Hill on our hands.

Dag, he might as well retire already himself. He was just beginning to be an all-star player once again and he just can't stay healthy.

Darn, that sucks for Mash. The Hornets were tough with him in the lineup.
I hope he plays again, maybe sitting out a season will help him avoid being
the next Grant Hill, but maybe it's too late.

Well, now the Hornets must either keep Davis because they need a strong. Or they might trade Davis for 2 pretty good players, to make up for the loss of Mashburn and Davis.

Probably should move this into New Orleans section. I already started this early yesterday in there.

    Less clutter = Alot better!
