<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Nineteen of the Magic's first 41 games are against Western Conference teams -- compared to 13 last season -- likely guaranteeing the revamped team a slow start and critics chaffing at Davis.

Get this: After returning from an 10-day, six-game West Coast trip in mid-December, Orlando's next games are against contenders Denver, Miami and San Antonio. Then there's this jarring January stretch to complete their first 41-game lap: Minnesota, Detroit (twice), Indiana, the McRockets (twice), Philadelphia and Memphis.

No pity for last year's worst team.

"We'll see if we're tough enough to deal with it," Davis said recently over lunch. "It will give us a gauge of where we are and who we are."</div>

Well thats not great news for us, but we have to make it work. We have the depth and hopefully things will work out for the best.

Thats really not anything to worry about if your a Magic fan,the players will take the season a game at a time.Even though the Magic play tough teams they should be ready, this young team may stuggle but they will pull it all together eventually.

Who cares........ If the beggining of the schedule is that bad, that must mean the second half of the season it will get better. it all comes out to 82 games at the end of the season. always remember that.

    41 home 41 away

The schedule does come out to be even at the end of the season, but a tough start might be hard for all of our new guys. It would be more favorable if we had a balanced schedule, or possibly even a light start to bring along Dwight. But like you guys have said it's going to be even at the end of the day. It just sucks that we're facing the western teams at such an early part of the season.

On a positive note, we can climb up in standings towards the end of the season while other teams are sliding. [IMG]

I don't know, I think that it's really a good thing in the long run. I think that it'll make some of our new guys (heck, the whole team is new really) work harder. Also, the Western Conference isn't as strong as it used to be in comparison to the Eastern IMO, so it might not be so bad. Things between the two conferences appear to be evening out slowly but surely, but the West is still the strongest by far.

Anyways, I could be wrong, but I think one of the things that wins games in the West is depth. Look at all the good teams in the West last year - Lakers, Kings, Mavs, etc. - and you'll see that they all have a lot of depth. Having a good bench gets you pretty far in the West. I think that the Magic's bench this year is phenomenal compared to the unit we had last year. In fact, I think that our 2nd string this year is almost as good as our starters put together last year.

This could help the rookies get into better NBA form, going against the big guys and learning as they go. Sure we'll be off to a rcoky start but the road will get smoother as the games go by and like you said Ice we have an easier time at getting up in the standards then other teams. But I'm not worried about anything because it's a learning and helpful experience rather than this dreadful one it looks to be.

I think this is a good thing. the tougher the competition the more experience they gain and the better prepared they will be when these games really matter come playoff time.

    McRockets, haha.

Anyhow, I'd rather have this schedule than an easy one so the jackasses don't say "Well, Orlando finished in xth place only because they had an easy schedule!"

Gotta prove the doubters wrong ya know?
