Field Goal percentage means little when it comes to who gets the ball. Oh, Perdue and Grant were both centers, shooting about 1-5 feet away from the hoop, by the way.</div> FG% doesn't mean nothing if you don't prove it. MJ was 49% with 32ppg. Those guys you list are like 5.8 and 13.2 Shaq puts up 26ppg with 63% in the Finals.

The Finals against the Sixers...he played against Dikembe Mutombo, who was the DPOY at the time, yet got it because he owned almost every center in the league BUT Shaq. Why? Because Shaq outweighed him by about 500 lbs. I could score 26 PPG against MacCulloch and Smits, and I'm only 6'2" and 150 lbs.
Uh, fellas, want to get back on topic please? Otherwise take this arguement to the Lakers forum please. Thanks
Actually...this thread went off-topic from the second post, from a Celtic fan (no offense Thrilla). Anyways, Paul Pierce deserves more credit than what he is getting. He's another player that can be considered "complete" in the league...and he's pretty much the general of a Celtics' team that doesn't have alot of help from anyone else but Pierce (compared to the Pistons and Spurs). My apologies to everyone.
Sorry, hagrid. I guess alot of the distraction was my fault. I just expect Paul Pierce to be disrespected. My initial reaction after looking at the list was Kobe at 3, so that's what I commented on, thus starting a debate. On Pierce- He's better than they rank him, but I like to see him that low. Part of me is glad that he is underrated because teams that don't face him that often won't double and triple team him as much. WE know that he is better than that, and really, that's all that matters!
It's a pretty strong ranking for Paul. Last year, his 40% shooting percentage and 29% from three point range is not impressive. But he did grab 6.5 boards and 5.1 assists, nice all around game. According to www.82games.com, Pierce fell from #9 to #47 using a purely statistical ranking. From what I can tell by the list posted in this thread, they are ranking based on next years predicted stats. That's why Kobe is so high.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">From what I can tell by the list posted in this thread, they are ranking based on next years predicted stats. However, if they did base it on projected stats, they had a glaring mistake in even putting Kidd in the Top 25, given that he'll likely be out until December.
This list is nothing. Here's my list: 1. Kevin Garnett 1a. Tim Duncan 3. Shaquille O'Neal 4. Kobe Bryant 5. Tracy McGrady 6. Jason Kidd 7. Jermaine O'Neal 8. Dirk Nowitzki 9. Vince Carter 10. Paul Pierce 11. Stephon Marbury 12. Allen Iverson 13. Elton Brand 14. LeBron James 15. Baron Davis <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">VC? Come on. When Vince starts playing both ends of the court, then I might consider placing his phenonmenal talent ahead of Pierce, but until then, I simply can't stomach him being ranked ahead of P-Squared. </div> Vince Can play both ends of the court, he's just no Bruce Bowen or Ron Artest. Carter has improved his defense over the past couple of seasons, and has learned to become an average defender. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Particularly given his heavily spotted injury history.</div> Vince having past injuries isn't really relevant on the topic of who's better overall. Vince only missed 3 games last year due to previous injuries, and the other 6 were because of the freak accident with Bowen. ----- I personally think Vince is better overall than Pierce because Pierce turns the ball way too many times for a GF, and he shoots poorly. Vince is a very good shooter, clutch, and he can make any type of shots fluently and consistantly.
Come on guys......Lebron is not better than Baron Davis. Dude you put Tim Duncan on your list twice. 1a & #5.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">1. Kevin Garnett 1a. Tim Duncan 3. Shaquille O'Neal 4. Kobe Bryant 5. Tim Duncan 6. Jason Kidd 7. Jermaine O'Neal 8. Dirk Nowitzki 9. Feels like just yesterday he was a different model of the Shaq DNA. Vince is still to high IMO and I still like A.I. in the top 10. All this arguing is nonscence, Kobe is the best player in the league. And theirs only one Tim Duncan in the league lol.
I agree with the Paul Pierce situation he should be above Peja and carter. 1. Kevin Garnett 2. Tim Duncan 3. Shaquille O'Neal 4. Kobe Bryant 5. Tracy Mcgrady 6. Jason Kidd 7. Allen Iverson 8. Jermaine O'Neal 9. Dirk Nowitzki 10. Paul Pierce 11. Vince Carter 12. Stephon Marbury 13. Shawn Marion 14. Elton Brand 15. Baron Davis This is how I think the list should look. Lebron James being out of the top 15.

Iverson and Pierce are in the top 6 players IMO...Shaq is getting older every year and Kidd should even be in the top 20 due to the fact that he aint even playin til December or maybe even longer.
Lat year PP had a very average season where he was alone for the first time in his career. Although Walker is a very frustrating player to have on your team and a guy who has poor shot selection, he was another player to help Pierce with the scoring. That was suddenly gone and Paul basically had no one to turn to. You may say Ricky Davis brought some offense but in reality It wasn't the same and by the time Ricky was playing well, the Celtics were already struggling. Pierce from the games I saw, gave up on his team and could care less about the rest of the season. He had nothing to look forward to and expections were low. This year Boston have alot more life into them, with added talented with the rookies added in, Jefferson, West and Allen. Lefrentz expected back from injury, Payton If he shows up will add a much needed spark to their offense and have a true point guard to run the show. Boston are in the best shape they have been in for years. They are set for the future. Pierce is a top 10 player and will still remain underrated by many people in the media.

The whole Ricky Davis issue will change this year. He's changed since last year, Doc Rivers will give him a chance at startin spot and he'll average 15 points a game, he's capable of carrying a team but Pierce already takes on that role for the Celts so he'll pretty much be an offensive juggernaut behind Pierce but wont really do much on D.

Last time I checked Shaq was still the most dominate player in the NBA and Kidd was still the reason his team made it in the playoffs. Pierce and AI Top 6 players? Thats gotta be some joke. AI <u>is not</u> a good defensive player. Just because he can steal the ball doesn't mean he's a good defender. His FG% Is horrendous, as well as a Pierce's. He's great offensively, but considering the fact that he hits about 3 out of every 10 shots, takes alot from his team offense, even though it revolves around him. You AI wanna be brides overate him too much. BTW, Tim Duncan 5th was a typo, I meant to put Tracy McGrady there.

The only reason Tmac is good because he got nobody else on his team at all. Drew Gooden was all he had and Gooden really wasnt great due to not EVER having the ball. Tmac was a loner and Pierce should actually be ahead of him. Tmac doesnt get ahead of Pierce automatically just because he can score 28 ppg on a weak team either and STILL NOT GET EVEN CLOSE TO THE PLAYOFFS. And Iverson was injured alot of games last season but still his team almost made it to the playoffs. Take Tmac outta tha Magic lineup. 10-72 is what their record would be because there trash without Tmac hoggin the ball. Take Iverson outta his lineup....close to makin the playoffs without him at all i would say. Take Pierce outta his lineup and they just plain suck just like Tmacs team. Pierce actually took his team to the playoffs though and thats exactly why hes better than Tmac In My Opinion and Iverson is also. People need to stop loving little Tmac and makin him out to be a good player because wait and see when he goes to the Rockets....hes got a Yao Ming on the team now. Hahaha cant wait until Rockets season starts. U overrating Shaq and Jason Kidd too. They both getting old and they both aint doin smack next year. Wade is in his 2nd year and hes gonna take that team somewhere. Shaq will be on the bench with a hurt toe or just being too tired to play like his excuse for not going to the Olympics. Jason Kidd is sorry now also. Hes got an injury that will more than likely haunt him in every game he plays. Kidd wont be around much longer and we might not be seeing him next season due to his little injury. Think before u run your little mouth Banks because all u think about is stats and the players name....dont ever call me a bride of Iverson either because I dont love him like u prolly do some NBA players....Any Questions?
First of all, AI does not have a 30% FG Pct. Secondly, You have to expect guys like Pierce and AI to have lower FG% than other stars. 1) They are guards 2) They have to carry their team's offense 3) They get double and triple teamed all the time Just wait and see this year how much Kobe's goes down, and Pierce's goes up.
Thanks for kinda takin my back 44 Im not sure Pierces will go up but he will go up in PPG dont get me wrong...but usually ur average stays the same. Kobes should go down just a little bit because he will be shooting more yes like u said but it wont go down that much because its already at like 43%. Iversons will go up this year because last year he played some games hurt and actually started going down in point average and FG% ...Cant wait til next season tho its gonna be awesome.
Pierce's will go up, for sure. Remember that they had almost no offesive sets last year, and most of their offense was Pierce taking on all comers. The Celtics have a much better team this year, and a coach who knows how to get guys open shots. I guarantee Pierce's will go up.
