Does any1 know how much each Rockets player is gettin paid on their contracts. It would be interesting to see!
McGrady ($14,487,000) Taylor ($8,450,000) Weatherspoon ($5,899,400) Howard ($5,408,700) Mutombo ($4,496,000) Ming ($4,436,880) Jackson ($2,475,000) Lue ($1,650,000) Nachbar ($1,493,880) Gaines ($1,212,200) Bowen ($807,546) Sura, Ward and Padgett...I'm not sure. This is off <strike>www.hoopshype.com</strike>. <font color="red">I crossed out the link to hoopshype, refrain from posting direct links next time. -Trip</font> EDIT: Sorry Trip...didn't even realize I linked to it I guess I was in a hurry and wasn't thinking...my apologies.
thx ..wow the extras: taylor spoon and howard get more than ming. That's a laugh. Why is JJ getting a lot less than spoon. Spoon doesnt even play much. Carroll Dawson needs to be replaced

Ming is still a young star...he started out with a $3-3.5 million salary, being the #1 pick a few years ago. Once he re-signs, his salary will break free of the $4 million he's earning now (like in Richard Jefferson's case, who was making around $2.5 million last year, and now is making over $12 million this year).
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Why is JJ getting a lot less than spoon. Spoon doesnt even play much. Carroll Dawson needs to be replaced</div>In Jackson's case, he was signed to a lower contract is because he was a free agent when we signed him, and he accepted the offer, since it didn't look like he was going to get offers from anyone else at that point of the season. Weatherspoon was obtained with that contract from New York, so it's technically not Dawson's fault for Weatherspoon's large contract.
Actually dawson did good on that trade then since the knicks were stupid enough to get moochie. Spoon was a lot more productive and his size helped the rockets when he played. How much was moochie's contract..wasn't he given a big contract too?
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">How much was moochie's contract..wasn't he given a big contract too?</div> If I remember correctly, 3 years 12 million..? According to Hoops Hype, he's gonna make $3,850,000 this year, next year $4,200,000 and his "contract year" $4,550,000. Thats close to 12 million, but it was a good trade in terms of getting rid of a bad contract. 'Spoon is gonna retire soon, I dont see the Rockets handing him a big extension anyways. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">thx ..wow the extras: taylor spoon and howard get more than ming. Like Trip said, JJ took the only offer he got.

All the other posts pretty much summed up why Yao contract is small compared to spoon, etc. I'm sorry, I was just poking fun because im a Dawson fan seeing what he's done to our team this year. He should NEVER be replaced!!! Although I would've said the same thing about Rudy after '95. Well everyone lives out there welcome SOME time. Phil Jackson was done in Lakers, and one day Dawson will be done here. For the time being, he's done wonders for us.
whuteva dikeem ..r u supposed to be a mixture of dikembe and hakeem or something? i waas just thinking its time for yao to not get the rookie contract..it's his 3rd year in the nba..no more a rookie duuh!

A rookie contract last 3 years and has an option for a 4th year. Correct me if i'm wrong guys.. im not sure if its just for the higher draft picks or every rookie. i kno that the higher the pick, the larger the contract.. but rookie contracts are never big. Btw, my alias is Dakeem not Dikeem and Hakeem's my fav player of all time. My REAL name is Daniel, so I just blend that in.
yes those salaries are definitely per year. NBA players are among the highest paying althletes in the world. The only sport which would p[ay considerably better is euro soccer. Speaking bout the economics of basketball, how much of the trade exception does the Rockets have left? DO they even have any? Did they use it all on Ward and Sura? and maybe a tiny bit on Bowen?

If they sign Zimmerman, and the other 2 forwards that were invited to training camp, that should be all of it. From what I know right now, we have $800,000 left. I dont think anymore moves are in the works.
I'd like to see us give Torraye Braggs a shot again. We had him for the first month of last season and he did a great job defensively and on the boards, but then he was let go when Alton Ford was signed. Where he'll play at I don't know, but he could do better than Clarence Weatherspoon as the third string center.
