According to www.hoopshype.com Isaiah Thomas is still tring to trade Kurt Thomas. I really hope he pulls the trigger on that Sczerbiak trade.

On the other hand though it would be nice to be able to bring in someone to play the Five other than Nazr. Not that he is not a serviceable center who can clearly start. I just think in the long run you need more than serviceable. Having missed the boat on Dampier I am not sure who else is out there to be had by New York but honestly they need to add more than one 7 footer to the roster to compete. Sure signing Mengke gives them 6 hard fouls to spend on Shaq but other than that New York is hard pressed for a competent big man. I am sorry but any team in the new and improved east with a hungry and motivated Shaq in it needs more than Bruno Sundov (The only 7 footer on the team) in the middle. So forgive me if I am as a New Yorker a bit nervous about a three headed center rotation of undersized Nazr Mohammed, the robotic Mengke Bateer, and the unproven Bruno Sundov. I mean I may have been spoiled by having Patrick around for so long, but I have to assume it gets better than this.
Pull the trigger on that Scherbiak trade??? For what??? So then you and most other Knick fans can whine about another "overpaid shooter"?? Isiah is trying to trade Kurt Thomas that is not new news. I for one am very suspicous of any deal Isiah tries to make. He ruined the Knicks when he traded away a 17-7 guy for an overpaid underachiever and traded away a solid player Doleac for some guy who I would give garbage minutes. He did this all in the name of "younger and athletic". Kurt Thomas is an old school player who does the dirty work and thats what Knicks need right now. Not a lazy cat like Dampier although I would have happily taken him for the MLE. Who cares if Kurt isnt athletic? He knows how to play. Let's keep the guy who gives everything he has every night. The Knicks will be just fine with Vin Baker, Nazr, Bruno Sundov and/or Mengke Bateer. They just have to play to their strenghts.
Isaiah Thomas' new Knicks are a horrible matchup for Kurt Thomas. Pretty much all of them can run and slash. On a fast break Kurt Thomas will be behind of everybody. Szcerbiak is young he can run and can shoot and gives us shooting insurance if Allan Houston goes down. Imagine having 2 great shooters with a penetrator. That's pretty hard to beat. And I don't think Wally is overpaid. His reduced role makes his numbers go down. I would love to see a future lineup of Marbury Crawford and Sczerbiakin a couple of years to come. This lineup will give nightmares to teams!
In my opinion,Kurt Thomas is the heart and soul of the Knicks. He's this generations Charles Oakley. I don't understand Isiah wanting Wally. All he is is a younger version of Allan Houston not to mention Kurt is one of the only ones on the team who takes defense seriously. If he's going to trade Kurt why not go after a defensive oriented guard instead of another trigger happy long range shooter? Seems like Isiah takes one step forward and two back.
As you said, Wally is a younger Allan Houston (not really, but that's another debate). He's trying to get some younger players teamed up with experienced one. Think of a line-up with Starbury, and a three man rotation of Wally, Crawford, and H20. That would be so sick. The would run teams off the court. Kurt Thomas would only be detrimental on that sort of team.
