It was a formality, I'm glad it's finalized. I've never been a fan of Fox, but he played his role well with the Lakers.

Fox burned many bridges with the team, through on court altercations and statements to the media after he had left Boston, that most fans I know were going to flat out boo the guy, if he ever got on the court. I wish him the best in the rest of his life, but am glad he won't be suiting up. I hate booing people.

I don't remember anything like that. I do remember his fallout with the Canadian National team though. There was a big game back in 1993 or 1994 that Canada had to win to qualify for the world championships (I think), and they gave Fox (the only NBA player on the team) the ball with 10 seconds left with Canada down by 1. He sort of dribbled the ball off his leg or foot and Canada lost the game. He never played for team Canada again. I personally believe he never played internationally again because of his wife and family and his part time acting profession.
Defintly for the best. He was not gonna be a fit in Boston at this stage in his career, and he has accomplished all from a teams view. He was gonna get PT, and hes past his prime, so it was a good decision.

It'll take me forever to find the media comments, so you'll have to forgive me for not providing them, but the bigger issue for me were the 2 on-court incidents involving Fox and the C's. One was a fight, when Fox intentionally pushed a Celtic player out of bounds on the end of a open fast break layup opportunity. In short, it's part of the whole "man in black (hat)", (depending on which one you've heard) moniker came about after Fox left Boston. Fox seemed to turn into a cheap shot artist/punk for a while, collecting techincals, etc. In short, along with the couple of incidents, the Rick Fox that Boston knew and (some) loved disappeared forever, in short order, through his actions and subsequent words. It was just a short term thing over a few years, but it left a lasting impression. If he needed to reinvent himself, that's fine by me, but don't do it at the expense of the C's. I could have lived with him becoming a Laker, that's part of the business. I can even live with the trash talk. However, Him acting like a fool and doing things to seemingly intentionally hurt a Celtic players: Sorry, I can't let that slide. Others may have thier own reasons, those are just mine. Well I don't remember the "pushing" incident. I wonder what I was doing WAY back on that night that I couldn't watch the sports highlights?? Anyway I hope she was cute at least. LOL I guess most athletes that spend multiple years with a franchise wind up leaving that franchise running their mouth a little. Sort of like any "joe blow" that works some place and leaves with some negative things to say about his or her old job. The Celts and Lakers will ALWAYS have a "mirky" relationship anyway and Fox had the pleasure of being in the middle of it like nobody else. I honestly don't remember Fox being much of a "tough guy" or "hard fouler". I must have been turning my head to it. I will admit he seemed sort of cocky though.
