It appears as if Reggie Fowler has reached an agreement to buy the Vikings. This sucks...I think everyone in Minnesota was hoping that Glen Taylor would rise up and get the team. Evidently, Mr. Taylor doesn't believe that Reggie Fowler will be able to meet the approval of the NFL's Finance committee, since he would be the only non-billionaire owner in the NFL. If that happens, Taylor said that he would be able to pick up the team.

I really hope that Fowler doesn't move the team...

Odd are though, if the sale goes thru, you are looking at the new LA franchise in 3-4 years. That sucks, first the Lakers, now the Vikings.

Well, I think it all depends on if he can get a stadium deal done. The NFL has basically said that if the Vikings don't have a new stadium by 2011, they would either dissolve the team or move it.

Do you think it would be best if the new Stadium is outdoor, or a dome?? I personally think that a Dome has hurt the Vikings, I dont think you guys have been to the Super Bowl since you've moved in there. I love outdoor stadium in harsh conditions, it's such an advantage, (i.e. Bills, Packers etc...)

Oh, a stadium for sure. I think most Minnesotans want that, and all the plans so far are for a stadium. The current thought is to build the stadium in Anoka, which is a suburb of the Twin Cities (kind of far away, actually). The benefit of that, though, would be that the facilities for some serious tailgating. Minnesota used to have one of the best tailgating parties when they played at the stadium...

My wife has already agreed that if they get an outdoor stadium we have to get season tickets.

Sounds Like Foxborough for the Pats....tons of parking lots for Tailgaiting and its like 1/2 hour ride from Boston...perfect as far as I'm concerned cus even though going to fenway or the bars around it is a blast its the whole getting in and especially getting out that sucks. It's much easier at gillette.

I hope they don't move the vikings too...I hate LA anyways.

I'd like to see a stadium like Houston's with a retractable roof! Grass, of course... They can close the roof when the Packers are in town and leave it open for everyone else. [IMG]

I read that Fowlers entire portfolio has an estimated worth of $400 million....the price is $625 million....I dont think he can pass the finance committee either, but they may grease him through becasue hes a minority and they want to avoid the negative publicity of rejecting the only minorty that ever got this far in the process....

He could still bring in a business partner or investment group. I know Emmitt Smith wants to own a team at some point...

NFL rules stipulate that any general partner must contribute atleast 30% of the cash portion of any franchise purchase....thats $187 million to a man that is only worth $400 mil....that also means that if he brings in another partner, they would have to kick in at least $187 mill....No way Emmitt has that kind of scratch, so he would have to be part of a group....

Fowler has a great group of investors, so that's not a problem. I get the feeling that Fowler is one of these "me against all odds" type of guys, so I can see him possibly pulling the deal off.

As far as the stadium is concerned, I do agree that if they put the stadium in the downtown area that would make it really tough to get in and out, but it would be great for the local bars and life of the city. When push comes to shove, though, I'd rather have a ton of great tailgating than some crowded bars.

I think he'll get through. He's shown enough promise to get this far in convincing Red to sell the team, which is significant by itself. I think Taylor is saying that he won't pass because he is jealous. He's been trying to buy the team for years, he just won't put up the cash.

The Anoka Vikings is kind of like the Auburn Hills Pistons; yes?
