probably kevin garnett. But remember shaq didn't come along until way after wilt's days. And considering there was no real dominating player between the 60's and 00's in my opinion it might follow this trend and another dominating player might not show up for 40 years or so...

HELLOOOOOOO Dr J - Kareem - JORDAN Where have you been??? LOL Those guys and some others were "unstoppable" one on one.
I'll name 2 who could take Shaq's place: Yao or Garnett Which one will do it?...Lets just see over the next few years on how both men play and we will see.
I'm gonna make a bold prediction...leaving out Duncan and Garnett because neither of them are true centers...and I'll say that it's going to be Emeka Okafor. He'll gain a lot of strength and muscle, and will look like the Orlando version of Shaq in a couple of years (not right away). It's something I'm sure a lot of you will say "no chance" to, but I believe he can do it.
If you go with Emeka, then I'll go out on a limb and say Eddy Curry. Pending a Vince Carteresque injury plagued carrer.
Yao Ming is the second toughest player in the NBA to stop from scoring and he'll prove it this season. #3 is TD and #4 is KG.
As for centers hopefully Yao can dominate the paint. I don't think he'll ever be a mean player cause it will never be in his nature to be that kinda player. He'd be dominating in a Hakeem Olajuwon way but with a little more dunking due to his height of course.

Shaq has answered this question himself, during last years all-star game. He said it will be Amare Stoudemire. Now I don't agree with him, but the man said it. If we are talking in the realms of big man, it will be Yao and Dwight Howard IMO.
In the future Amare will be the most dominating bigman,I think he could follow in Shaqs foot steps.Obviously he wont be as dominating as Shaq is,but he will be the closest young player to Shaq in the next few years. Yao Ming has potential to be dominant, but not until he starts to get more agressive and attack the basket,at this point Amare Stoudemire still has the upper hand on him though.
Shaq is the last of the donimate center era. And it look like it will be a while before we see someone along the lines of Shaq, Hakeem, Ewing, or Robinson.
AS for Shaquille O'Neals heir, I think it will be yao Ming, I think he is the only choice to be the next dominating big man. Shaq has been the epitome of unstoppable force in this league. The only one I can see filling his footsteps is Yao Ming, He has shown somedominance in the chinese summer leagues, and as long as he ges tougher and more forceful, he willb e unstoppable, not to mention his finesse. After that, I think it will be a while, as bdub said, shaq is one of the last of the dominant Centre ero(was there really ever an era?). There are not many true centeres, and when there comes one that is tough, the league will have another changed look.
Yao will be the most dominating big man, however, Kobe will be the most dominant player in the game. He's the leagues best perimeter player and his jump shot and everything else just get better and better. He might not be MJ, but he's as close as we now have to him.
