If you're asking who will fill his shoes, I think noone can. The only player that can dominate in this league or anywhere is Shaq. Who else can? Certainly not TD after we saw in the olympics(and this is not to take away from Tim who is tied with KG as the 2nd best player in the world). Dare I say there will never be anyone as strong and dominating as Shaq for a LONG time, and no I don't see Yao dominating more than Shaq(he is a different kind of player though). Shaq is a one of a kind player that you only see once in a 100 years.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AA13:</div><div class="quote_post">I know that but he's talking about players like shaq and wilt.</div> OHHHHH You're talking about the big strong guys that can put the ball in the basket with a guy hanging off each arm. I'd throw Karl Malone into the category but he spent his career flopping every time he got nicked. Some little guard would look at one of his arms the wrong way and Karl would just hit the floor, get the call, and then do his little mouth thing as he hit 2 free throws. DID I EVER ENJOY WATCHING JORDAN STRIP MALONE CLEANLY FROM BEHIND IN THAT BIG NBA FINALS GAME. It was sweet.
yea kobe mite be the most dominant but i guarantee u that the lakers wont be half as good as the old lakers, they'll finish like maybe 7 games above 500 and they'll lose in the first round.
Not Yao, he might become the best big man, but he'll never have the strength to do whatever he wanted like Shaq. Not Duncan either, although he might finish with more MVPs and more Championships, he's just a hard working guy that gets the job done and makes his teammates better, but he doesn't really have a dominating personality or game. Not Garnett either, he's coming into his own, and has a complete game, but he's just not unstoppable like Shaq. He might pull through it, but you can still get under his skin and beat him. Kobe, I don't think so. He'll have highlight reel plays, and put up huge numbers. The measure of a guy like him is how he makes his team better, and that's his weakness. Until he proves otherwise, he'll just be a very talented individual. I'd say some highschool kid is our best bet.
Depends on how you look at it as a dominating player like Shaq. If we're talking about centers, then Yao Ming hands down - he's the next up and coming true center. Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Garnett are already great players right now and will dominate their positions as well. I don't think theres going to be just one dominating player like Shaq - theres too many All Stars out there right now. If you're talking about the next dominating player overall (meaing years to come) I'd have to go with players such as Amare, Okafor and Dwight. Although Dwight has yet to prove himself, these guys are/will be great PFs in the leauge. The top guards will be along the lines of Wade, Melo, Lebron, etc.
what are all these peole saying, KG, and tim duncan and kobe for? Dominate means no one is close to them. IMO KG and TD are very closely matched. T-MAC and KOBE are also very closely matched. therefore how can any of these be dominatnt? and it's too early to tell whats gonna happen with Yao if you ask me
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Not Duncan either, although he might finish with more MVPs and more Championships, he's just a hard working guy that gets the job done and makes his teammates better, but he doesn't really have a dominating personality or game. </div> Are you kidding me? What does his personality have to do with anything? He wins championships, that's all that matters. That's what you get paid millions for. Shaq has a 'dominating personality' how? By calling out teammates and blaming them for things that HE himself has fault over as well? Duncan doesn't need to do all that stuff because he knows whose fault it is and won't make it worse by calling them out in public. As for 'he doesn't have a dominating game'....you gotta be joking again. Shaq is dominant yes, but Tim Duncan is pretty close as well. You give him the ball in the post and he is almost unstoppable. Not to mention that he does well in other aspects of the game as well. 2003 finals- He almost had 2 quadruple-doubles. Enough said. Now, to the topic,,,I definetly think TD and KG have this league on lock for the next 5 or so years with Kobe, Yao, Mcgrady not far behind. KG and Duncan will be like (not literally) Magic abnd Bird of the 80's for the next 5 or so years and then the newer reign of Kobe, Mcgrady, Yao will kick in, with Lebron, Bosh, Wade, 'Melo behind them.
