This has been discussed a few times on other channels..But I was wondering what the Spurs fans think about the impact on the season due to the summer Duncan and Ginobli had by representing their countries in the Olympics.. * Will the Spurs start slow, because Duncan and Ginobli their 2 key players didnt have a well rested summer? * Will they be better then before by not looking rusty? I think the olympic commitment will cost the Spurs this season and they will get to a slow start and try to catch up with the Rockets and the Mavs in the division.
The Spurs always start out "slow" and then make a huge charge near the end. As far as ginobili, they have Brent Barry now. So that shouldn't be an issue. As far as Duncan, he'll just be more hungry than before after not winning the gold.
Spurs don't start their season till february most seasons, they started off poorly two years ago while Dallas started the season 14-0 yet still finished at the top of the western conference standings. I honestly don't see It becoming a problem. Duncan will still put up the big numbers even If he isn't on top form although I expect he will be. Manu on the other hand may need a month or so to get his legs back. Afterall he did play alot of minutes and lead his team to olympic gold, Duncan meanwhile most often than not was on the bench due to foul trouble. I doubt he will be effected.
