There is no question that this kid is the best shooting guard in the league. People always praise Kobes defense, but tell me, who has more blocks per game. The reason why Kobe has more steals per game, is because he doesn't have to worry about the turnover cuz he had shaq diddy behind him. Tmac has stuffed Kobe so many times its not even funny. Tmac is also younger than Kobe, and he has already led the league in back to back seasons in scoring. He is the youngest player to average 30 points per game in a season. People question his toughness, but this guy single handedly carried Orlando on his back for multiple seasons in the playoffs. He had virtually no one else on his team. Kobe had Shaq and Tmac had Pat Garrity. Please put Shaq on his team, and Tmac would have 3 rings instead. This guy has been injured ever since he came to Orlando, he couldn't take it anymore. Just because he lost so many games in a row, people question his leadership and heart. Come on, this is the same guy who worked hard to become a noticable player from being a bench warmer. Tmac has put him self in the league of top 2 shooting guards in the league without a question, and now he will prove the doubters wrong with a championship. This guy scores up to twenty points in like 3 minutes, not even MJ pulled that off night after night. No one can tell me that Kobe can score 62 with being triple teamed during a game. I would like him to sere him get 60 this season. Tmac has potential to be the best player since Jordan left. In my book this guy is the 2nd best player in the league right now. KG is the best. Tmac can dunk, defend, shoot the three, shoot the two, fade, lean in, off the backboard to him self... man , Houston got such a good deal it ain't even funny. Too bad that things didn't work out in T. O. Too bad.

Before we start this debate, I'd just like to say that McGrady is the second best SG in the league. I'm not saying he's bad...so here's my argument.

Two years ago, Kobe's average was 30 PPG, and McGrady edged him out for the scoring title...correct? How? Shaq's average was 27 PPG...nearly the same. Tell me this...based on those stats, how many points will Kobe pour in this season without Shaq? Come on...McGrady's stats are inflated because he's the only option on the Magic.

In other words...put Shaq on McGrady's team in Orlando. McGrady's average would drop pretty far. He wouldn't average 30 PPG like Kobe did two years ago, with Shaq STILL on his team.

Does McGrady have an All-Star MVP? Kobe has started in four consecutive All-Star games, been in 6 total...but McGrady didn't even start in 2002.

Kobe...All-Defensive 1st Team in 2000, 2003 and 2004. All-Defensive 2nd Team in 2001 and 2002. All-NBA First Team in 2002, 2003 and 2004 (three times). Slam Dunk Contest winner in 1998. Tallied 31 points in the Rookie game. Gatorade National Player of the Year in 1996. Youngest to ever play in a game...youngest to reach 10,000 points...12 threes in a game (record) with nine consecutive (record). Has three championship rings. All-Star game 6 times.

McGrady...a couple of scoring titles, and All-Star selections in 2001-2004, but didn't start in 2002. All-NBA First team twice, 2nd team twice...has been on three different teams since 1997. Most Improved Player once he got his own team...how ironic is that?

Some stats...

Kobe Bryant (24 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 5.1 APG) shot 44% from the field (a month with a re-injured shoulder, but still played), 85% from the line, 33% 3PT...with better stats also in steals and turnovers, in less minutes.

Tracy McGrady (28 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 5.5 APG) shot 42% from the field, 80% from the line, 34% 3PT...with better stats also in blocks, but in more minutes.

Now, this is Kobe with Shaq (so obviously, Kobe's rebounding and scoring will decrease) and also sharing the point total with Malone AND Payton. Also, what happens when Kobe passes to Shaq? Well, he scores...but he takes dribbles and backs in...which means Kobe doesn't get the assist. Come on...what's McGrady's excuse? LOL...he's good, but he's not even close to Kobe.

Ahh the age old argument on who is better, this is going to be locked soon so here's my two sense. Tracy McGrady versus Kobe one on one who would win no one knows but they can predict right? So until we see the two play 3 games by themselves one on one at 100% with nothing getting in their way or slowing them down, only THEN can we say which is better.

...and this is why I think they need to have a One-on-One tournament during All-Star weekend. That would be great [IMG]

Depends on whether or not there both at 100% which is never becuase t-mac with his bag, short leg,and family issues would never get back to his ld self. But it'll be a great thing to see wouldn't it?

As i said before, tmac is 1) more marketable (far nicer shoes than kobe( his old adidas fat shoes were on sale for $10..i wouldnt wear 'em for free), 2) good-looking, 3)skillful, 4) more of a leader (coming from a team of scrubs); and let me say from this that he blossomed into a superstar without the help of another superstar, unlike kobe who fed from shaq and phil jackson; and he scores more points than kobe more everything, consistency, and I bet his career highs are much more impressive than kobe's.5) popular and the list will go on.. You could prove me wrong ffrom statistics or pictures but that's highly unlikely. I'm not totally dissing kobe, because he's a great player and has achieved many things that no other player has achieved (including tmac); but you have to accept the facts that as an individual player tmac is much better in all sectors than kobe. It's ok though, second best is not bad at all; if u think positive it's actually a great achievement

More marketable? Kobe's second this year in sales behind LeBron. Far nicer shoes? That's a matter of opinion. Good-looking? Opinion. Skillful? If there's a way to prove it, go for it...but it's an opinion. More of a leader? Since Kobe hasn't had the shot at it yet, sure...McGrady is...but he sucks as a leader. The Magic aren't really shouting "success" and that's why McGrady no longer wears their jersey. Popular? Sure he is...that's why I see him at such events as the VMA's. Is McGrady a sponsor for anything? The only thing I've seen him do is Adidas...but that's after Kobe signs with Nike. Actually...I remember Orlando fans booing McGrady. That's not popularity.
Haha. This thread is more of a joke now.

The "good-looking" argument made me laugh out loud. I don't judge ball players by their looks (I'm totally straight), but female friends of mine have told me that T-Mac has droppy eyes and looks spacey Kobe's got that million dollar smile (but they L.A. girls so maybe they biased)...

I don't even want to make an argument on their play because that's a played out argument that leads to 8 pages of nothing...that one argument was just funny so lets get some female opinions [IMG]

I know a 14 year old kid that my little brother used to play ball with (on a team) that looks just like McGrady...all the way from his weird right eye to his cheeks. [IMG]

Hey, a little humor here and there never hurt anyone. It's not like we are bashing each other here :P

In regards to T-Mac and Bryant, I wouldn't rush to say that McGrady is better than Kobe now, but T-Mac has a chance to prove it as he plays with Yao. Right now, T-Mac is the one with the big guy, and Kobe is not. I see a reversal of roles soon...

Talking about looks and posts just dedicated to which is better looking? I'd understand if you guys were girls, but I'm sure you know better than that. [IMG]
