If Payton reports to the Celtics' camp, how would you feel about the Luke Walton/Devean George for Marcus Banks/Michael Stewart trade? It's a possibility that they do this, since they'd be getting Payton and have Delonte West as his backup.

But...here's what I'm looking at: the way these series of trades would be happening, all rolled up into one.

    Gary Payton
    Luke Walton
    Devean George
    Rick Fox
    1st Round Draft Pick

    FOR

    Chris Mihm
    Marcus Banks
    Chucky Atkins
    Jumaine Jones
    Michael Stewart

Would the Celtics be ripping us off badly?!?! [IMG]

Lakers own that trade. All you really lost is a pg in GP, and Kobe could handle the ball when needed to. You get a developing back-up center in Mihm as well.

The Celtics gain GP, but don't get Rick Fox who was a big part of the trade.

The Lakers lose a first round pick, but they'll get it back at the end of this year, lol. (I'm joking.....don't overreact Laker fans).

I don't think the C's ever wanted Fox, as a player, that much to begin with. I think they wanted cap relief from his contract next year.

As far as the other trade rumor, I'd prefer it stay just Banks for Walton, if it happens, but haven't looked at the cap #'s to see if that can be a reality. We don't need George, who's injured anyways and Stewarts expiring contract can be a much bigger chip in another trade or coming off the books, IMO.

Oh and good luck with Mihm. He's got potential if you can keep him in the game longer than 5 minutes without getting into foul trouble. [IMG]

well, this trade would be very good for the lakers, i mean we need a quick young defensive pg in banks and mihm will work wonders, i mean we really needed another 7 footer on our bench, we also get a hand full of back ups that can come in and fill in if someone is hurt, sick, or in foul trouble. we also will have plenty of players to make a big trade this season or the next or 1/2 thro this season. so Lakers are pritty much dumping Rick Fox who is done, Gary Payton who is still good, but every season his numbers get lower, a hurt Deaven George who might not even be 100% this season and finally Our Luke who is frankly a good passer, but we need mad defense right now. We need somebody like fisher who hussled and was ready to win the game for the lakers. So in the end lakers end up raping the Celtics in this trade.

ALSO! do you guys think since gp is going over there we are going to get the original trade of:

Banks, Atkins, and Mihm for Rick Fox, Gary Payton, and the money and lottery pick? i would rather have banks and Jones and frankly the only reason we got jones was because Gary Payton was not a sure thing.

Well, once the deal is finalized and in the books, it's done. It wasn't quite done, since the physical wasn't given to Payton yet. That's how I saw it, anyways.

Sorry buddy, but the trade is done and done. It was amended because GP didn't report for his physical. The Celtics took a bit of a risk, but if he didn't show up at all, it would have been us that took a hit. Because we took that risk, we get to keep Banks no matter what.

And frankly, as I've said in numerous other posts, I think Banks has more upside than Walton and would not want to see this trade go down.

The only part Fox had in the trade was for cap relief for the Celtics but the Celtics were counting on GP. I like Walton and i dont want him to leave. Trade Jumaine Jones back instead
