I dont know about all of you, but I have been waiting for this day since the season ended. Now the real season starts 4 weeks from today. Who is excited?
I am excited... can't wait to see: -Fisher donning a Warrior uni -Pietrus' development -Kobe booming on Shaq's ass on Christmas day -McGrady-Yao tandem
You forgot one thing... The Warriors ending the league's current longest drought for a playoff appearance...
I am excited to watch any basketball. I hope warriorsfan is right about the playoff drought, but lack of low post scoring is kind of scaring me. Maybe Foyle will amaze us who knows Or maybe our best chance is to invert the lineup so that Murphy and Cliff are 3 point shooting PF/C and you have Dunleavy Post Up a 2/1 guard with either Richardson / Brandon Armstrong/Matt Caroll/Pietrus on the wing. I want to say Fisher, but we lose the mismatch. I just think we will have a hard time in the paint unless its off a fastbreak. But our lineup looks like it's going in the right place. We have the infrastructure of a good team, now we need a true franchise player to throw in the middle. You know, It's like we bought a private parking space, fuzzy dice, some shiny sprewells, new stereo system, leather seat covers but we're still waiting to buy that car. That's what it feels like with all these notable team chemistry role players. We have no car to get us where we want to go. We just got the accessories.
That's one crazy offense. How are they going to move the ball around through all those defenders, though? And it could hurt the offensive rebounding scheme, something GS has been good at, although we lost Damp this year. I think we'll be fine in the paint as long as Montgomery runs some clean plays. With 2 point guards this year (hopefully for the whole year) there should be a better half court offense, even without a dominant big man down low. They've just got to stop worrying about the 3 point shot altogether, in my opinion. It was really streaky last year, and without our best 3 pt shooter to the Grizz, it's not going to get a lot better.
I think Foyle will put up similar scoring numbers to Damp. I think Murphy will make up for Damp in rebounds because Cliffy can not rebound worth a crap.

That's why he'd be better off at small forward when guarding other tweeners like Tim Thomas and others. I remember all those defensive stops made and they couldn't even get a defensive rebound to secure the posession.
Hey there.... Just noticed the warriors training camp is down here at ucsd.. i happen to live just outside of La Jolla trying to find time to drop by UCSD and the rimac center. I have played Ball there many times and it is set up for ideal viewing from above,,,, the rimac has two levels,,,, and is open at the ceiling so you actually stand and look down on the court... and probably a good thirty people or so could fit in there. Hopefully the rimac is open.... i have to imagine it would be as school is in session there. If i make it and get in to get a view, i certainly will report in. BUt anyone living in the san diego area should try and check them out. I remember back in the day i used to go to San Jose CIty College as a kid and they had open scrimmages. In fact i still have a warriors banner with the entire 76' teams signatures on it. I think that was the year after they won it all, and SUnny PArker a rookie then was a little too generous with my limited space Also the LAkers are practicing around the corner at USD.... not quite as open a set up, so i doubt anyone could get a free glance in.
Wow the season is almost upon us and we're not talking crazy trades right now. Maybe this is finally a year where fans can just concentrate on believing in the W's rather then trying to pine and claw our way to getting a "proven" star. I'm really excited about the upcoming year. It just seems to feel right. Last year Damp was a question mark, who knew a year later he would be on the mavs with a fat contract, I know I sure didn't when I saw him and George McCloud out eating sushi on Lombard Street in San Francisco. We've just got to believe, and I for one am putting all my faith in Mully and Monty. My only complaint is the super-ugly uniforms the W's are still rocking. Go Go Power Rangers.
boog, some of my friends live in san diego. my friend goes to usd and he told me that the Lakers are there for training camp but they don't let anyone in to watch. Hopefully thats not the case for the warriors as well. man, I am so excited for this season to get started. So many question marks and so many haters to shut up.

So let's hope they either ask for a reasonable contract or they play well enough to get teams interested in trading something for him. We will know by late October if they will be RFA's after next season.

I want that kid to get a sense of how tough it is to play smaller post players that are stronger and weigh more. Or maybe he already knows this?
I've always been more of a baseball guy so I haven't been as excited as most of you. But it's always exciting in the offseason when we think "this is the year...." But this offseason our team actually had a direction and I don't expect us to be winning a championship this year but seeign our team gel and some of our young players develop into stars will be great. We have to many awsome young players unlike years of the past where all we had to look forward to was Chris Mills, Jason Caffey, and Mookie Blaylock.
He was a decent center when he had someone else in the post with him. His hair was pretty gay though. I would not mind a Rony Seikaly right now on the roster.
