<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A second high-profile local boys basketball recruit, Seattle Prep's 6-foot-6 guard Martell Webster, is expected to announce he will play for the University of Washington. A press conference to announce the commitment reportedly has been called for Thursday.

Webster would follow forward Jon Brockman, a forward from Snohomish High School, into the Husky family. Brockman, a 6-foot-8, 245-pound power forward, Tuesday announced his verbal commitment to UW. Brockman and Webster are good friends and play on the same summer-league team, the Friends of Hoop AAU team.

The two recruits would be part of the greatest recruiting class in the 106-year history of Washington basketball. Both players are rated among the best at their positions in the nation. Webster was even considered the best high-school player in America before his junior year but was limited by injuries most of the season. He played only five games, but has been pursued by virtually every major college in the country.

Arizona and North Carolina, among other elite programs, were interested in Webster. He is so highly regarded that some belueve he could turn professional after one college season or perhaps even declare next summer before his collegiate career.</div>

Casual, I order you to take each of these boys under your wing and help them settle into college. Don't school them too hard, too early either, as we don't want their confidence shattered.

The Huskies are suddenly becoming a college basketball power... stealing Brockman away from Duke and signing another one of the top high school players in America with Webster is incredible for a school that is primarily known for football.

Like the article says, its attributed to the great play of UW last year that they can have a competitive squad in the years to come. Don't forget about Ryan Appleby transferring from Florida either. The Huskies look like they will be a definite tournament team for awhile.

I start tearing up every time I read that Brockman and/or Webster is coming here. I'm so happy. [IMG]

I think I'll leave the welcoming committee to Nate, though. He brought our newest transfer (Ryan Appleby) to play at the gym last time I was there. It looks like he's trying to make sure everybody is included. The dude talks a lot of trash, but he's a really nice guy.

Yes Oklahoma is better than Wyoming, but what does that have to do with anything?
