The Lakers have apparently shown interest in PG Tierre Brown. He's in training camp right now...and I actually like this guy. For those of you who have no idea who he is, I'll do what I can to let you know about him...

In high school, Tierre Brown was one of the top basketball players in the southern part of Louisiana. However, coming from a small town, Tierre didn't get the recognition he deserved, and he was soon offered a decent scholarship to McNeese State University, in Louisiana. In his last two years at McNeese State, he was in the top 25 players in the nation, yet once again, being enrolled at a small university gave him a disadvantage in what was soon to be a reality: playing in the NBA.

When the 2001 Draft arrived, it was gone before Tierre got to hear his name. A disappointing night, Tierre returned to his hometown in Iowa, Louisiana to re-think his career plans. Before he had the time to establish those, the Houston Rockets gave him a call, notifying Tierre that they had shown interest in him, thus inviting him to training camp. Focused and more determined than ever, Brown shocked the critics by landing a spot on the Rockets' roster, finally making his dream come true.

In what was a huge blow to Tierre's confidence, the Rockets ended up waiving Brown, after playing 40 games with Houston, and averaging 3.1 PPG and 1.8 APG in only 10 minutes a contest. Although his career in the league seemed over, Tierre took to the NBDL, playing for the Charleston Lowgators in the 2002 season after failing to make the Rockets' squad the following year. After impressing the Cavs, they signed him for 15 games before letting him go.

After failing once again, this time in Golden State and Atlanta (in training camp), Brown headed back to the Lowgators, and then he...yeah...

Haha...you get the picture. He's been unsuccessful so far in the NBA...but in this last season, Tierre Brown was awarded MVP of the NBDL. Sounds good? Well, it is the developmental league...

I guess he's got the goods to be a backup...maybe more, if Atkins completely kills our lineup. Any thoughts on Tierre (pronounced T-Air) Brown?
    :thumbsdow

Sounds goods. Not the best PG but still a good backup just in case you need him but why??

    We already have Sasha Vujacic.

I use to watch the NBDL a lot (before my satelitte got fried) so i've seen brown play some...and to be honest, I was never really that impressed with him...

however, the one thing the NBDL is deep in is point guards. There are several other NBDL guys I wouldn't mind give a shot to, mainly Kareem Reid and Kenny Satterfield.

It's a shame that Kareem Reid hasn't been given a shot at the L. He'd be a steady hand at runnin' a team and passin' the rock. If Rafer got a shot this cat should too. He would be a good pickup for someone, especially the Lakers who have a big '?' at the position.

I acually don't think we need him, we already have Vujacic, Atkins, and Bobbit, unless we are gonna make a trade for a better PG than we for sure don't need him.
