<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Jazz and All-Star forward Andrei Kirilenko are about $10 million apart in negotiations regarding a contract extension. Kirilenko's camp is known to be the seeking the maximum deal permissible, an extension worth $86 million over six seasons. That's essentially the same deal Memphis recently gave big man Pau Gasol. The Jazz, it is now believed, are offering a deal similar in financial structure to that of New Jersey's Richard Jefferson - $76 million over six seasons.</div> Link Just give him the money, he deserves it, and I can't stand the possibility of him leaving .
I'm a Knicks fan but...I love this kid. Id trade anyone on my team for him except Starbury and H2O. How about a trade?A overpaid underachiever in Tim Thomas for Kirilenko? Hell I'll even throw in an athletic center in Nazr Mohammed. What do you say?
I hope that was a joke. Because if the Jazz really want Mohammed, we would of just kept him, and no one wants Tim Thomas (look at the teams that have traded him). Also, I don't think I would trade Houston or Starbury for him either. KOC just needs to give the money and get this over with, Kirilenko is the Jazz in the post-Stockton-Malone Era.

Houston is not half the talent of Kirilenko's right now. Anyways, as great of a player AK47 is, I do not believe he is worth the max. His offensive game is not skilled enough for me to give him a max. contract. He's like a 5 tool player in Baseball, but I wanna see him improve as an offensive scorer and threat before I give him that kind of money.
Houston is arguably the best shooter in the league and the only upper echelon shooter who can create his own shot. You wont find guys like that any old where. What's wrong with his offensive game? To be honest I havent seen him play alot and I like what I have seen. Does this mean you'd take Tim Thomas and Nazr Mohammed for him?

I don't know where you got the Tim Thomas/Nazr Mohammed Idea from but thats ridiculious. I never said anything about a trade, I was talking about his contract situation. His jump is mediocre, average at best. He has a good driving game, which is going to take him places, but I would like to see him be more smooth and have a goto move. If the game was on the line, would he be the guy you give the ball to and say "get us a basket"? He still has time to do show that he can be that guy, but this is the year I would like to see him do it, otherwise, I wouldn't give him max money.
I see. I know you didnt say anything about a trade I was just suggesting since I hate those two guys. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting durvasa:</div><div class="quote_post">Ray Allen is better in every way, in my opinion.</div> Ray Allen is younger, more athletic and a better defender. And can create his own shot pretty well. But Houston shot better then him this season and shot better then Ray Allen for their respective careers. Ray shot less then 40% from behind the arc this season. I believe he was in the top 30. Van Horn did a better job then him. Well if you guys dont give Kirilenko the money he wants he will definetely find someone who will. He's the one holding the cards. It's best to give him his money now and keep him.

His last three years, he's been under 40%, sure, but he's taken 6.8 3-pointers per game, shooting 38.6%. Over the last 3 years, Houston has taken 4.8 3-pointers per game, shooting 40.1%. To me, that's close to a wash. If Houston had attempted 2 more 3-pointers a game, his percentage likely would have been lower. Last year, Allen took nearly 3 more 3-point shots per game. Over their respective careers, Allen has averaged 40.1% and Houston has averaged 40.2%. Virtually no difference. Also, you have to take into account that Houston had an extra year with the shorter three point line. Personally, I think its difficult to say who'd the better pure shooter. Even their free throw shooting is very similar, with both regularly shooting over 90% from the line (both have done it 3 of the last 4 years). As far as who's able to create their own shot better, I'd say Allen easily. In fact, the stats back me up on that. There's a metric called cFG% or created field goal %, that's used at www.basketballmetrics.com. The formula for it is the same as adjusted field goal percentage (takes into account 3 pointers and free throws made per foul drawn), but only looks at those shots which the player created for himself (unassisted and not off offensive rebounds). Anyways, Ray Allen's cfg% is 35.4%, while Houston's is only 29.4%. The rating generally favors point guards who create for themselves, and for reference here's the top 40 from last year. Anyways, if I was a Knicks fan, I'd give up Houston for Kirilenko. He's younger, one, and he can just do so many things on the court. He's already one of the top defensive players in the league. In time, and in the right environment, he could easily develop into a top notch offensive player as well.
I think the Jazz should give Kirilenko what he's asking, he's only 23 with a huge future. Obviously, he will continue to get better with experience, and he's an All-Star now. The Jazz can buid around him and to a lesser extent Boozer. Every other team in the league wants him, and I would sign him to a big deal now for the security, otherwise, Utah could get "boozerized".
